We were wandering around and agreed to have a coffee with cake or something. Looking through the window we were attracted by the mushrooms. One of us looked at the menu and asked the others ''instead of coffee why not go for a full lunch?''. It is close to Piazza del Popolo and you wont notice it that easily, but... More

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, offering fantastic wine and food suggestions. The food was delicious (we ordered the daily specials) and very reasonably priced. We didn't book and sat around drinking coffee and chatting after our meal, yet felt very welcome. Highly recommend.

Food is good and tastes fresh! Recommend octopus and potatoes or the sole, or any fish for that matter! Great artichokes and soups and amazing vegetables!

We stopped here after a recommendation in the lonely planet. The pasta was delicious. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Near to shopping district.

Arriving rather late after an evening flight, we had to find a place near Piazza del Popolo, avoiding the noisy tourist venues in the Piazza. So we got into Al Gran Sasso rather at random. Most patrons were tourists, we assume, but we still had the feel of a trattoria in the provinces. Very courteous service by a knowledgeable waiter,... More

We took a chance on this restaurant on the last night of our stay. We were welcomed by a waiter who took us downstairs to the second seating area (upstairs was almost full). We felt a little uncomfortable being the only ones there but very soon it was filling up. He helped understand to specials, was helpful without being patronising.... More

I often pop up here when in Rome for business. The atmosphere is quite typical, not fake, and it is a real family owned restaurant. They have a blackboard with the freshest dishes, as well as the paper menu. I suggest you pick from the blackboard. I am not suggesting you will eat the best food of your lifetime, but... More

We went here on our first full day in Rome walked down from Piazzi di Popolo - on the recommendation of our trusty lonely planet guide. It was Sunday lunchtime so it was busy, lots of locals in but tourists too, so a good mix. We were ushered to a table quickly but was then 20 minutes before anyone came... More

Food was fresh, tasty, and pretty unique. Came here on our first night in Rome at the end of the night. Only disappointment was they ran out of the gnocchi, telling me this 20 minutes after I ordered, so I substituted another pasta.

Good little restaurant serving honest food. Blackboard with specials of the day. Fettuccini ai fungi porcini eur 12. Busy restaurant. Fresh mushrooms of the season. Very reasonable prices. The fettuccini was excellent and the mixed salad good too. Cheerful friendly service.
