We spent a week in Rome over Christmas. Al Grottino was recommended to us and we went there the first evening of our stay -- and ended up going back twice more. The pizza is absolutely fantastic, the owners and staff very friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere had a nice local buzz of families and friends. Highly recommended.

Very good location. Delicious food and excellent staff. Glad right here celebrating his birthday. I will definitely visit it again.

Long story short - the service from the Maitre D' is shocking. We ordered a pasta dish and a pizza for our main. Pretty simple, right? Well, no. My pizza arrived... we waited for 9 minutes (yes, I timed it) and no pasta appeared. Just for context, we were sat outside. Can you imagine what happens to a 'hot' pizza... More

The Italians seem to eat later. Restaurant was empty at 19:30. Was busy when we left. Pizza was really good. Wine was 8 euros a litre. Appears to be busy with locals. Huge choice of pizza.

The lime pie was awesome, pizza delicious and service friendly. Enjoyed dinner outside. Happy ambiance. Worth the wait...opened at 7:30 and was busy.

The food is really really good. But the service is not the best. Actually I would consider it lacking altogether. A lot of 'experimental' pizzas and all really good - but then in Italy they usually are good. Would give the food 4 but the service only 2 (and that is being nice). Overall that gives 3. Must say that... More

It was totally worth waiting a few minutes. We had a very nice and funny waiter and got delicous food and wine for a totally fair price. Would definetly go there again 😊

This place had very good pizza. I ordered the orange, bacon, and smoked cheese and was not disappointed! I also ordered the "olive pate", which I though would be pate with olive garnish. But was really just a tapenade. I'd consider renaming that item... All in all - great atmosphere, good food, and good service. My waiter was very attentive... More

We visited this restaurant on our first night in Rome. We had researched the area where we were staying, we had seen Al Grottino's website and thought it looked like a good pizza restaurant. We were right! We arrived at 7.30 to find it completely empty, we discovered that they only open at 7.30 so not surprising. Within an hour... More
