We stopped by chance in this lovely quiet piazza south of the Vatican. It has a nice aspect overlooking a small church and gardens. We had our best lunch in Rome with superb service. Wonderful antipasto for the 5 of us followed by great lasagne, bolognaise, tuna and salads. Wonderful hime cooked bread too. A real Rome experience. Don't miss... More

Our waiter turned surly when we ordered only one plate per person + wine/waters/etc-- the bill came to 73 euros for 4 people. He stalled bringing the bill, and hovered over us to see what we would leave him as tip-- which we did The encounter was extremely menacing. too bad because the food was good. He should be fired.

After arriving late off the plane on a Sunday night, this was the only place we could find a table. Usually you assume that's a bad sign, but I really enjoyed my pasta caccio pepe and the spinach contorni was to die for. Best spinach ever, really. I could have eaten plates of that.

It is a must if you go to Trilussa square in Trastevere quarter. It's a little restaurant plenty of small tables and owner's old pics with customers. It's like being inside a classic Italian movie set!Spaces are really small. Fast service. Not only typical roman dishes. Fresh vegetables and very good meat's quality. Good wine.

We were there for dinner. We had carciofi alla giudia (artichokes) and spaghetti cacio e pepe (spaghetti with pecorino cheese and pepper). The dishes were perfect and the portions right. My friend had a delicious millefoglie cake (a thousand layers) too! The owner is a real character, you have to talk to him!!!

We were looking for good pasta dish all over the Rome and we found it here. It was a New Years dinner and the place was full of italians, so the locals love it and we did too!

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
