Better places - staff served us a bottle of water which was tap (had no labels and was opened) and charged us for it. Food was average, go round the corner for a better meal.

A small family run restaurant. Could not recommend enough! The owner could not do enough for us. Food was stunning. By far the best we have had in Italy

Food - top notch Service - fast and efficient A gem of a restaurant. Exceptionally good food, friendly service and excellent value for money. We loved it so much we had to come back for our last night in Rome.

Unfortunately we didn't read the TripAdvisor reviews before going because if we had we likely wouldn't have gone. We should have seen the warning signs started when it took at least 20 minutes to have our drinks and food orders taken, however we gave them the benefit of the doubt there. Once we ordered we had the waiter come to... More

As we were pondering whether to give it a try, the owner was scolding waiter asking how she dared serve such a pitiful plate. We thought we'd give it a try.... Very adventurous dinner but great fun. We truly loved the series of explanations about why they served me salmon in place of tuna. This will make the place memorable... More

Message to the restaurant's boss - hire second waitress. Unfortunately waitress was lost. He has to manage inside and outside....and it was not busy time. Shame, he looks as great guy but is just left alone... 5 stars for a food.. Lasagne was full of meat (hard to find that in Rome) and pizza was also ok. I think they... More

the location is conveniently located near the train station, but still away from the crowd. we happened upon this by accident the first time, and had a spectacular meal. we had the works: prosciutto, mozzarella, anchovies, and my pasta : cacio e pepe was to die for. Service was extremely attentive. We had Gianni....Gianni we missed you the second time... More

We came across this whilst looking for cheap decent carbonara, and were sat at a picturesque table outside. Food was very good with complimentary italian bread, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Carbonara was 9 euros which is very reasonable considering the quality and the fact that we just made a table with the restaurant full. Would recommend if you're based... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
