We were looking forward to experiencing this restaurant and were in line once it opened. The three of us headed up the stairs and were placed in the second last room, before the space with dishwasher one side and toilets on the other. There were...5 other tables crammed into the space. Please read carefully here.
We had been at Pompeii and Herculaneum In the afternoon sun, 36 minimum, and the space seemed to have no air conditioning. Beside us was a group of three, one of whom had a very loud voice, and it filled the small space. Our grandgirlie , 15 yr old GG, had a headache, and the inconsiderate volume from the adjacent table, maybe acceptable in a crowded UK pub, was annoying to us all. After 15 minutes, realizing that no one in the previous room had even been served drinks, hence we were way down the line, we agreed to wait another 10, and as we did, and then, with a disappointed sigh, made our way back outside.
The place has a great history and reputation, but it just was just not meeting our needs. If we come back, it will be in cooler weather, and we’d happily try again. Do try to avoid the final room, and best wishes to all who hold strong!
