Had a truly incredible meal. The new menu was fantastic and the service was 2nd to none. The service of Helena was just fantastic with her encyclopaedic knowledge of the menu as well as the wine, making this experience an absolute treat. This restaurant is...an absolute must for any couples or family’s visiting Amalfi - can’t recommend this establishment highly enough.More

This restaurant serves a high level of good, healthy and creative dishes. Staff and owner are really friendly and are doing the best to serve you. I even got a dessert for free. And I bought a bottle of their wonderful olive oil. Keep on...going!More

We went there based on their Prix fixe menu for 22 Euros but the lowest price menu was 60 Euros. We asked about the discrepancy with the website and they said they were unaware of it but they'd gone "more gourmet" a year ago.

Whilst visiting Amalfi we came across this restaurant and noticed the house menu..€22 for a 4 course dining experience (in a lot of places that would barely pay for a main meal and a drink). I started with bruschetta which is largely something you cannot...go wrong with before moving onto fettucine with mussels, then anchovies and prawns before finishing with a fruit salad. The anchovies and prawns were deep fried, there were more than a few to eat and all in all the dining experience represented very good value for money. Our waiter was very attentive and the pace of service allowed for a leisurely experience. Top notchMore

The decor was nice and service was good but the food was disappointing. I had seared tuna, but it was too heavily salted to enjoy (I couldn't finish it, I should have sent it back).

We stopped for lunch to take a break from walking and shopping. We were here before about a year ago so this was second visit. We decided to try the special lunch menu for euro 22 per person. You have choice of a first and...second dish. Also provided is salad and desert. We each had spaghetti with clams to start followed by fish, salad and desert. All dishes were prepared well and the portion sizes were generous. I saw some negative reviews written of this restaurant but I would not pay too much attention to them. We had a good experience and could recommend this restaurant to anyone.More

Walked thru the village to discover this gem. Fantastic 5 course price fix for €22 including bruschetta, salad, pasta and fish and finished with fruit. Very satisfying. Local bottle of red was €15 and good. Nice people too

Really puzzled by the mixed reviews. We tried this restaurant having been disappointed by the menus on offer for a couple of other places our hotel had recommended. The service was friendly and quick, the menu had a good range of options, and the food...was a well cooked and delicious. This region of Italy is quite expensive, but this was decent value and certainly not the ridiculous tourist prices for just being able to sit facing the Duomo! We went back a second time on our last night and enjoyed it just the same.More

We’ve seen Siena, Florence, Rome and now Amalfi and this was the worst restaurant experience of our trip. We walked in and the restaurant was full so we thought that was a good sign, it’s so cute on the outside and the menu options looked...amazing. The first thing we see is the waiter in a disagreement with a table which was our first red flag but we had been walking around and were hungry and saw our table being cleaned. Then we sit down and our waiter is so short with us and rude and has none of the table side charm we had seen all week. The prices weren’t too high so we just thought oh well, this isn’t fine dining. Then he literally tossed a bag of bread on the table and walked away it was so unpleasant. Then there was the food... terrible. I got the tuna balsamic dish that someone wrote a great review on and it was bright PURPLE and the balsamic does not go with tuna. Then, my husbands chicken was mostly gristle and missing some ingredients. We won’t come back. We are not review writers but I honestly don’t know how this place is still open. ALSO - just got back to our hotel and have an update. We bought a bottle of red at the waiter’s rec and it tasted like FISH. I was so confused and disappointed but we took the bottle with us anyway and I poured a glass in a hotel glass and low and behold the fish I was tasting was the restaurant’s nasty glass. Just don’t go. There are plenty of other restaurants in Amalfi, and I’m sure they are better than Il Tari.More

The best part was my salad (kind of hard to mess up) my wife’s tuna came out purple and did not taste right (hopefully no food poisoning like in other reviews but the verdict is still out). I ordered chicken, potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms, onion (there...was no onion but no big deal), and bacon (the whole dish sounds hard to mess up). It came out with strong olives (which tasted weird), literally half the chicken was just gristle (I had a small pile before we left), and the “bacon” fought back and was chewy like squid. Our server seemed pissed we think it was due to getting yelled at by a coworker when he delivered the wrong food, also a table next to us had been shorted their change. This is the only review I have ever written and I feel so compelled I am typing it up in the restaurant...More
