Have read of this little bar in Lonely Planet and other reviews we were disappointed. We had six meals whilst in Valencia and this was the least enjoyable. To be fair we sat outside so perhaps did not get the atmosphere of the restaurant. Service was not slow but very impersonal compared to the other restaurants and we had better... More

Great place to sit outside in the street and eat simple foods washed down with a local cervaza or two. Watch the locals arrive on tractors park up by the boules pitches and argue who bowled closest to the jack, out door heaven

Also known as La Pilareta, this place is tiny. There are tables outside (much like every other restaurant in town), so you might be in luck there. But, you can always stand at the bar and chuck your mussel shells into the boxes at your feet. They're known for clochinas, or Valencian mussels. Salty broth, pretty good. Nothing too special,... Went here on the strength of Lonely Planet writeup, it did not disappoint. we were out of the season for the little mussels but had regular ones that were great, and a fantastic grilled swordfish dish. If we're in Valencia again this will be at the top of our list.

Great authentic, old-fashioned bar with a friendly buzz, interesting tiles, a wooden bottle-filled gallery above and lots of antique knick-knacks about. The waiting staff are a cheery and amusing team and although it was packed inside and out, we took a ticket and were made welcome up at the bar - and soon had a table. We had calamari, whitebait,... The menu is simple, but the quality is excellent. Google translate told me that they are specialist in little mussel which is right. The potato is just mind blowing. I cannot believe the simplest dish is the best. The cuttlefish also hit all the spots. In my ten days visit in Valencia. It is either number one or second top... More

Hard to find as the sign on the door says La Pilareta. When we found it it became a firm favourite. As it was busy we asked for a table , given a ticket and took our turn. Had Clóchinas al vapor ( Spicy Mussels), Pescaditos on the first night. We returned two days later and had Sepia a la... More

I've been here in 2013 and early 2015. Both times I enjoyed the atmosphere in this little restaurant. As a tourist I liked the fact that it seemed genuine and I could explore their menu with valencian specialties. The highlight were the mussels.

Having been there before and wanting to introduce this authentic tapas bar, we were very disappointed by the famous mussel tapas dish. The mussels were not freshly cooked, tasted reheated causing the mussels to be pasty. 8:30 pm perhaps too early or too late. Dommage....
