Casa Labra, since 1860, has been famous with locals long before the touristas invaded...so be prepared for a line even on a Monday night. The bar and outside areas: Only €1.50 for their famous deep fried cod tapas, and they are tasty indeed! Only €1...More

Little place, tiny, difficult to locate. You stand, you have a drink and try the cod, Bacalao. Either in a batter and fried or as a cocreta. Simple food, made at its best. Little vermout or a draft beer, watch the crowd move through the...More

Not somewhere to hang around - I think we stuffed our faces for 15 mins and were on our way. Absolutely delicious, and we were seated straight away! We had the empanadillas de carne & croquetas de bacalao.

Do not be put off if there is a queue, it's 100% worth it. The cod croquetas were the best i've ever had! Amazingly creamy and satisfying! I didn't have the battered cod but i had an empanadilla with mince beef and that was absolutely...More

The road is long here. But the wait is spectacular food. You have too wait a while on the line to purchase the portions. But once you get served the freshly and cleanly fried and breaded cod portions and croquetas with a hot bechamel interior,...More

Perfect traditional tapas spot. Loved by locals, right in the center by puerta del sol... make sure you stop by and have some Bacalao (fried cod fish) and some CAÑA (beer)... be a local in the middle of a very touristic radius.

Right place to try and enjoy bacalao, interesting recipes and fresh cooking. Very good service and great choice of vines. It's very bussy place so reservations are required.

Very busy place with mostly local people on a mid-week evening. You can line up for freshly cooked food and eat it standing up, as many locals do, or wait for a table. Service is efficient and the food is fresh and reasonably priced. Order...More

Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street
performers, colorful lights, window shopping,
restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and
churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a
collection of plazas interconnected by a network of
side streets. Some of these side streets are wide
pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so
it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as

You can and should make reservations, but the real experience (and my recommendation) is at the front where no reservations are needed. It's a casual come and go place. You eat croquetas and have your cañas standing and... More
