After spending a week in Madrid, I still wasn't used to the eating schedule in Spain. I showed up here at 7pm ready to eat, just to be disappointed that they didn't open for dinner until 8:30pm. I was a little frustrated because I was hungry of course but I decided to wait the hour and a half because I... More

El Tendido 2 is a very nice and traditional place where to taste Madrid cuisine in an informal restaurant. Dishes are well presented, portions good and the service is attentive without being overwhelming. We had the jamon as a starter, the toro and pulpo as main course and flan de queso as dessert. . Everything very tasty, we reccomend it!

Were invited to this restaurant by a colleague. Spanish food was largely local and delicious. To enjoy the food more desirable to really understand the menu. Since there are dishes with local spices and flavors which guests won't like . Special spot authentic restaurant's decor and unique. For me was difficult to eat with a bull's head on the wall... Interesting interior decor, lots of Bullfighting pictures and am intimate atmosphere especially in the back room. We had a little trouble with language, and ordered the wrong dishes but this was more our problem, the quality was very good and the endive salad was one of the best salads I have ever had! We ordered it again when we went... More

I enjoyed my experience at El Tendido. I stumbled upon it, and I decided to give it a try for two reasons. First, the pinchos that I saw two customers eating al fresco looked excellent; and second, the decor and setting were amazing. It was appointed in a very pleasing, traditional manner - almost kitschy, but not quite, and I... More

This restaurant was recommended to us as soon as we move to the neighbourhood so we decided to go and give it a try. We had everything to share so we can try more things. The food was good; especially the ox tail and the little octopuses in their tint. Staff were also very attentive. I will definetely recommend it!... More

Staying in Chamberi

Neighbourhood Profile
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighbourhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
