Had a lovely dinner here with my wife. The food was excellent, especially the octopus and potato croquettes. The drinks were also nice and the interior was lovely, in keeping with the local area. The only thing preventing us from giving 5 stars was the slightly slow service. But overall, well worth a visit!

Good Food, good atmosphere and what's more important really good service. We were a group of 18 people, that wanted to have a nice dinner and after that some drinks, and we smashed it with this place. First dinner in the lower level, please you must get the "lomo gallego" meat, superb, and after that, we had some really good... More

Went to the rooftop for a couple of drinks. Place has a lot of potential if they would manage it better and maybe add a couple more people to ensure better service, cleanliness and organizations. One person taking care of almost 20 tables. The guy did what he could. This was our 12th stop for drinks in Madrid, got to... More

We went there just hours ago to get lunch, we were ignored for 10 minutes at the bar to get a drink, eventually got a table. Asked 3 times for a menu, after 35 minutes of being completely ignored, not even a menu - we left. The staff are completely uninterested. My advice - seriously don't bother!

We went here for dinner and ordered sandwiches. It took years to flag down a waiter to even take our order, and it took even longer to start receiving the food. Two of our sandwiches, the lamb kebabs, never arrived, even after we asked the waiters three times about where they were. The waitstaff seemed extremely disorganized and did not... More

This was the best dinner we had since we arrived in Madrid. We had two types of potatoes, rosemary cheese (really nice), chicken bites and eggplant. Everything that we ordered was really good. The service was fantastic. Our waiter also gave us some useful tips regarding food and wine. Atmosphere was fantastic. I definitely recommend this place.

We had a leisurely lunch at this beautiful hotspot in La Latina. Its rooftop provides great views of the quarter, the drinks are alright and the food is OK, although nothing extraordinary either. Service could improve, but after all you are there because of the vibe and the location.

The food is reasonable and the service was equally OK. The food was good but not thing amazing, though we were able to be seated on a busy weekend so it was fine for us. Right in the heart of La Latina neighbourhood, this was a good stop on our pub crawl and worthy of a stop for a quick... More

I didn't realize there were other floors to this restaurant as the ground floor was so inviting we stayed in the bar. Four of us came in for tapas after a futbol game. We tried Patatas Bravas for the first time; they were displayed in a highly decorative way we didn't see again. Enjoyed the atmosphere and all of our... More

Although there is room downstairs to eat and drink, most people seem to head for the roof terrace at El Viajero. On warm days this is crowded and no doubt buzzing but we were there on a cool evening when getting a table was easy. The mojitos at 8.80 euros were over priced but I'm guessing that most customers are... More

Staying in La Latina

Neighbourhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighbourhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighbourhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
