Small, authentic, order at bar and sit at tables or small bar, incredible croquettes, cheap, really really great, loud and fun. Don't miss it!

Really great and enjoyable food. The zapatillas (sandwiches) are amazing and are a great value. The croquetas are great too, and I usually don't enjoy them. There isn't much space to sit, but as a 30 minute stop for food and a drink while wandering...More

Highly recommended place to go if you want to eat the real spanish's cusine. Altough the bar is small and always crowed, is worth to go to to eat the fabulous zapatillas, croquetas, empanada, pimientos verdes...

We visited Melo's last night and had a great meal. Really enjoyed the sandwich and croquettes. The best part though was the incredibly friendly staff. There was a huge line and crowd in the restaurant but that didn't impact their mood poorly at all! The...More

Popped in late night for the famous zappatilla and was not disappointed. It's a beast and was probably the best €7 I spent in Madrid. Will be back again in 2 weeks

This place knows what it does best and does it well. They have a small menu but the food is great. The croquetas were delicious and the zapatillas are enormous.

This place has been open for years and has a kind of cult following. In order to get a seat you have to get there early as it gets crowded. The menu is small but everyone more or less goes there for the homemade croquettes,...More

Walking into this neighbourhood is like entering a
different country ... except it's hard to tell which
one it is. One side of Calle Lavapiés is lined with
Indian restaurants, the other with kebab shops. Men in
traditional African clothing convene outside their
businesses for long chats, and people shout to each
other across plazas and streets. Interspersed among
