We found our server to be very friendly. The place was busy, and he promptly cleared a private corner table for us. The food was very well-prepared, and they offered a good suggestion for a wine pairing as well as local craft beers.

As soon as the staff realized we were not fluent in Spanish, they treated us like we were horrible people. We had to ask to sit, the lady immediately got snooty. The male server wouldn't even make contact with us. Most uncomfortable situation yet. We were not rude in anyway. Even left a tip. Then to be talked about before... More

The decoration is nice. The staff could be more nice. The food is too much "industrialized". I would not consider it a must.

This restaurant can be just a walk-in or you can make reservations. The food was delicious and had quite a variety for our finicky family to all find something we enjoyed! Some of us shared a variety of tapas while one had the tapas burger and one had a cod dish of some sort. We all agreed it was one... More

We had breakfast here and really enjoyed it. Excellent omelet with fresh bread and a great pain au chocolat. Coffee was also excellent. Charming service.

Was looking to initially goto Matilda cafe however as we didn't book, we didn't get a table so we wondered for a walk and came across this place. The waiters outside were a bit moody but then again there were only two of them and it was extremely busy. I had a hamburger which came with wedges and love to... More

We were here just for a coffee and some drinks on a Sunday morning. Drinks and coffee were ok, as well as the service. A good place to sit outside and relax a little bit from the always busy city.

The location of this eatery is good, but the food is not. If you are visiting - this is not the food that you want as the menu is watered down Mediterranean and not good. if you live in Madrid and are tired of all of the good Spanish food and great chef's that make it , then maybe a... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
