If you want eggs for breakfast, then this is the place where you can get 3 eggs with a choice of assortments, for a decent price. Most other places offer fixed and limited choice of 2-eggs omelettes, while this is 3-eggs and flexible, for a similar price. This might sound pretty specific review, but if eggs for breakfast is important... More

We made an impromptu stop in here for breakfast. I had a tortilla and cafe con leche. My wife one of the special egg platters. Both were good. The are served with a mini orange juice. A full orange juice will set you back 4.50 Euros. A bit much we thought. The specials were all reasonably priced.

My husband was hungry and wanted to eat before going to Museum. He picked this place. They have Menu in English. Staff we had and observed with other diners were attentive. We both ordered the French onion soup which was good. We are used to quite a bit more melted cheese with this in America. I ordered the duck (Tapa's... More

Avoid at all cost. Out of a party of 8 six ordered the steak. It was tough, fatty and full of gristle. Staff could not care less when we complained.

This coffee bar looks very attractive from the outside but it is quite ugly inside because it looks in a state of disrepair, very old fashioned and dirty. It is also quite expensive and with no reasons as it is not offering any special service or quality. We paid a coffee with milk double the price of most coffee bar... More

Our server treated us like we were inconveniencing her. Cappuccino was weak, my breakfast said it came with spinach, it was lettuce. Breakfast was supposed to come with orange juice and didn't. When my husband asked for the toast to go with his eggs, she grunted and then brought him rock hard cold bread. He asked for eggs cooked well,... More

Started off by ordering coffee, more like heated foam with a dash of coffee, had to order an expresso to add to the cappuccino, I guess that was a huge inconvenience for our server. Could she be any less friendly? Yes got worse. Ordered breakfast, no acknowledgement, took order and off she went. Order came, specifically ordered my eggs to... More

Ate at this cafe whilst on a whim whilst walking around Madrid. Exquisite food served in good portions and with little to no waiting. Well priced to boot. Dessert was f to die for.

We walked in after a long morning on our feet. We were welcomed and served efficiently. Particularly delicious tapas. Get the filled squid! Seemed to be lots of locals there -- generally a good sign.

Visited as a 46 year old single traveller and felt I was being laughed at ... from the glass of white to the 2 cafe con leche ... felt I was being ridiculed .... been here before with my husband and been treated very differently ..... sitting on the terrace is definitely better than inside

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
