I made the mistake to believe that my 20,30 booking would be late enough. To the contrary I was the first to arrive and when my party was complete, around 9 o'clock, none of the other tables was occupied. I was in a party of nine and according to my golden rule Inwas not expecting to eat well. Nonetheless our... More

Yes, the food is creative and gastes good, but to be honest, for the price you pay, it is scarce. We ended up paying 30 euros per person (including 2 for the bread!). Service was non-existing, nothing special. Portions were small, I left sort of hungry. I had sea bass with mushrooms, you could tell the fish was wild sea... More

Nice food, but the service very poor. 4 times ask for wine card, waiters clearly grumpy and unwelcoming with the 100m look, totally ignoring you.

We were the last ones to walk in the door with our Spanish host and with not much arm twisting they stayed open and we had wondergul jamon and an amazing queso salad. Our entrées were delicious as well. Try the oxtail! Melt in your mouth!

Predone reheated pretentious food like in so many places. The waiter took a phone call while he was taking our order, we thought he would be back after his phone call (!) but he never did. When part of the food was already being served, we reminded another waiter that the whole order had not been taken yet. We had... More

thisfoods his is a good restaurant if you are looking for a slightly upmarket menu in the area at reasonable (but not cheap) prices. the owner was very friendly and welcoming. the waiter was a little cranky. the food was not exceptional but everything was tasty and we enjoyed it. not sure if I would definitely go back but it... My husband and I found this place before they closed for summer vacation and really enjoyed our first visit eating tapas at the bar. We returned for tapas at the bar probably 4 more times, but the wine selection by-the-glass never changes, and the tapas can be ridiculously inconsistent. One night the solomillo is tasty and tender, the next its... More

We four Americans enjoyed our meal here very much! But, we had a struggle to know what we were ordering, what was on the menu, etc., they did not have a menu in English and our waiter, although very kind and provided great service, could not help us too much. We ordered many things, and enjoyed everything very much! This... More

Staying in Chamberi

Neighbourhood Profile
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighbourhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
