Well, the title says it all! My girlfriend and I have had a lot of seafood during our stay in Spain, but this little 'coffee shop' like restaurant has blown our minds away! The food was phenomenal and the service was incredible! We followed entirely the server's recommendations and didn't go wrong at all. The calamari and cod were really... More

One of the joys of my visit to Barcelona has been all of the tapas bars we've visited. We've been to a lot. We find the tapas culture a lovely way to have a tasty early dinner in a town that eats late. This place gets written up a lot and for good reason. This is the real deal. A... More

Rudeness is probably on the menu, part of the experience, the food is amazing, staff don't smile and can seem rude but it seems like a normal thing here. Still going there regularly for the experience and the quality!

This is real Barcelona, away from the tourist traps, you have to seek this place out but it's worth it. We arrived around 11.45 am, just before the rush and were welcomed with open arms by the staff who gave their recommendations on the specialities of the house. We left just over an hour later having been the only non... More

If in Barcelona, just go here. Decor is not fancy, it is a bit rustic. But the food and atmosphere is great. I recommend las bombas. Went there on New Year's Eve when they were running out of food and the selection was slim. But the remaining food they had was great!

There isn't a place in a Planet like this, I am sure and I can bet!! First time I landed there randomly. Every single aspect of La Cova is Amazing: the traditional old location and place, the food, the wine, but most of all the people running this restaurant are Unique, the atmosphere that you breath inside is something out... A classic place that hasn't fallen (yet) to the tourist assault all around. Great personalities in the place. Food fantastic : fish and sea food obviously! A must if you can get in the door and get up early.

Family run restaurant.even the fisherman (who we were told was sleeping while we were enjoying his catch) was part of the family. Grandma had cooked for 55 Years but due to age is now cooking less but overseeing quality control. Plates were simply presented. I thought of my Dad (God rest his soul)who had me search the world for "anchovies... More

I am living in Barcelona, Spain, for four years now. La Cova Fumada is one of the best place to eat tapas in This wonderful city. It is not sophisticated. A simple kitchen that makes the " bomba" a potato that is boiled and than receive a white sauce (secret recipe) and then another one, red, from an Spanish spicy... More

We visited the place with my wife. The staff was extremely kind, the food was delicious, the squid and the octopus was simply awesome. The atmosphere is really special. Try their local strong coffee with lemon, it is awesome as well.

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
