It's a very good, really, very good restaurant. We enjoyed the food and drinks we had there. I want to share some pictures of the food we had.

This beautiful restaurant located near the center of Barcelona offers perfectly prepared Catalan dishes in the most elegant style without veering into fussiness. The staff are gracious, helpful and attentive. If you let you know you are interested in their food and and wine they will show an equal interest in you. Although some diners we saw were dressed very... More

My husband and I were here today at Ca l'isidre today for lunch. It was recommended to us by local food experts and we couldn't have been happier. Pepe (our waiter) was amazing and so helpful in educating us about Catalan cuisine. It was old school, waiter with tie, beautiful silverware, table cloth and wine glass kind of dining and... More

If you're looking for somewhere where the food is prepared and served with a passion for seasonal ingredients, a delicacy of touch and smiling and generously attentive service then look no further. This is a gem of a place. A little old-fashioned perhaps but that is all part of the charm. It is a family run restaurant of many years... More

Recommended by concierge at Mandarin Oriental. Not really widely publicized, so had no expectations. Turned out to be extraordinary and the best meal during a week in Bordeaux and Barcelona. Highlight was the (seriously) baby octopi. Apparently impossible to get. There was 1 kilo in all of Barcelona and our testaurant had it. 80€ a portion so we split one... More

Fantastic catalan cuisine, great service, top food. Cannot get better. The decor is conventional and not particularily impressive. But food and service are amazing. A pity there is no valet parking.

I found this on a Conde Nast top something restaurants in Barcelona. It was wonderful. We have a very special meal the food was delicious, and the waiter was attentive, informative and friendly. Faultless in every way. We will go back.

Great Spanish kitchen. I believe this restaurant is very well know by the locals and not so much by tourists.

My wife and I dined there last night after asking the front desk manager at Alma Hotel, Gabriella who has been spot on with her picks. We wanted to do something other than tapas, more "dishes", so there we were. Our server Pepe was so helpful/attentive in explaining to us Catalonian ingredients/dishes that we essentially managed to create a semi... More

Our older daughter, (once a senior Bon Appetit wine and spirits editor), has been on our case for years to visit Barcelona and, while there, to dine at Ca L'Isidre. This restaurant was our Barcelona favorite by far (we also dined at Casa Calvet and Rias de Galicia): we had Turbot and Espardenyes (sea cucumber) the latter of which my... More

Description
Ca l'Isidre is the best formal Catalan restaurant in Barcelona. Royalty, celebrities and gourmets have been returning to this small family-owned, art-filled treasure since it opened just off El Paral.lel avenue and inside the Raval quarter in the 70s. Because it relies on what catches chef-owner Isidre Girones at the nearby La Boqueria market that morning, the menu changes day by day. Go for the classics every time: the sausages, grilled prawns, fried codfish, and lamb brains in black butter, for example, are out of this world. A special mention goes to Ca l'Isidre creative desserts. A must-visit restaurant.

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
