I have lived in the city and now visit it as regularly as I can and the Botafumeiro is without doubt the best seafood restaurant. Trust me. You'll certainly pay for it but it's worth every penny. The pulpo feira is truly stupendous as is...More

Busy as heck, tremendously popular, and some splendid seafood platters. At €145 they should be! And photos of Woody Allan and Brian May dining there make your credit card whimper a bit. Anchovies and lobster salad for starters - generous lobster but even more generous...More

Very delicious food this evening. We had lobster paella and, eventually, sea bass. The food was wonderful indeed; however, the service for such a highly priced restaurant was very disappointing. Problem one: within five minutes of arrival, four different members of staff were asking what...More

A fabulous restaurant with a great waitstaff and amazing shellfish -- literally mounds of shellfish at most tables! The quality of the food is fantastic and the prices are quite high, but worth it.

Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to
be an independent town until late into the 19th
century. Though it’s just a short commute away from
the centre, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole
different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many
international artists to this area, resulting in a
wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy
boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the

Among the three hundred diners that fill this 30-year-old restaurant every day, you may spot the King of Spain, movie stars, and politicians. Botafumeiro has to be a well-oiled machine to keep all and sundry happy and coming back for more, and it does. The decor is so trad, with wood railings and banisters, white table linens, and nautically-themed art and objets. The menu focusses on the sea, try fruits de mer for two to start, followed by anglerfish fisherman's stew with white beams or one of the barbecued fish, then a dessert of Belgian chocolate volcano with chocolate sherbet. Wine list is an ambassador for Spanish wines.
