You can read more than enough for the pastries, it all look delicious. I must whrite about the amazing xoxos i tasted there. Fresh, with substantial filling of creme or chocolate and for 2 euros per piece you MUST taste them.

Right under our hotel (and right in the exit of Jaume I metro station) is this lovely place. A showcase of all the sweet pastries you can imagine, easily pass as a French pastry shop. Stopped there in the mornings for a Jamon-Iberico (Sausage) sandwich...More

Everything looks good there, but the most important point for me: I found in Dolceria De La Colmena piñones marzipan, or panallets! I was looking for it in many places, but only this dolceria has it and of the good quality.

I was very much surprised by how good the sweets were that I bought to be eaten later in my hotel room. I highly recommend this place!

Since the sweets was yummy last time in this shop, we went there to get some of candies. Their taste is simple and not too sweet. Can't wait to get some soon!!!

The sweets here must come directly from heaven and be it in the afternoon or any other time the day: a stop here is mandatory to grab some of the precious delicateties offered here genuinely handmade and sold with pride.

Description
La Colmena is one of the oldest cake shops in Barcelona. For more than a century it has delighted "Placa de l'Angel" square, where it is located, with it's fragrant aroma of home-made candies and cakes. The exact date it was founded is unknown, but we do know that its original name was "Ca l'Abella". In 1849 Rosendo Abella had the shop in the street "Bajada de la carcel" (the prison slope) now called "Baixada de la Llibreteria" (Bookshop slope), situated just in front of the current location. In 1872, the Costa family purchased the business, moved to the current location and changed the name to La Colmena. But maintained both names at the front of the building. Later, the shop changed owners from "Morato i Sant Pera" in 1912 to "Chocolates J. Camps" in 1921. Finally, in 1927, Josep and Francesc Roig Manubens bought the business which is now run by the grandson, Josep Maria Roig. Toni Roig, Francesc's great-grandson and Josep Maria's son, makes the candies following the same recipes and methods centuries ago, like many other traditional Catalan pastries and cakes
