One cannot believe that this was once sewage drain. From 1440 once the drain was rerouted, this cultural hub of Catalunya emerged as a meeting place of locals and tourists alike. A walk through the hustle and bustle of this busy street is a great experience. An array of Tapas bars and a number of souvenir shops gives ample opportunity... More

We had breakfast in this corner caffee three mornings in a row. The smell of freshly baked pastries and brewed coffee is just perfect. The croissant with ham and cheese was very nice. Service was perfect and the place was clean and welcoming.

It has been hard to find a great bakery for sweets in the French tradition but his place had the best palmers! We had a inch coffee sitting at the counters and each munched down and entire palmier! No shame. So delicious. They are celebrating their 30th anniversary so you know they have been doing it right for a long... More

Had some quick coffee and some very good pastries here late one afternoon. They even had some tables and chairs outside to sit and people watch. The food was good and so was the experience.

A quick stop for good breakfast and coffee before heading out to your adventure. Bread, sandwich, and cafe con leche are all good. I was not disappointed on anything that we chose from this place.

Had a lovely quick and inexpensive breakfast bite here. Great coffee and a toasted croissant with cheese and jamon for two people for 9 euros. Just getting pastries and café con leche would have been even less. In Eixample district just north of Las Ramblas area. Skip Starbucks, go here...

Staying in Eixample

Neighbourhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
