The environment is nice and the restaurant quiet and cozy. We were a group of five. Starters are very creative and main courses have good quality, both fish and meat! Deserts menu is short, but ask for the Ice Cream, it surprises! Service is super nice: close, helpful and funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely loved staying at hotel 1898, we arrived very early in morning after 32 hours and where extremely tired. Unfortunately our room was not ready however desk clerk offered us a smaller room if we where happy not to wait, being so tired we took it and it was stunning. The best part about this hotel is the staff at... More

We came to the 1898 for a quick afternoon drink with friends - Enter the lobby, find the lift and I think its floor 7 and your at the bar. What is good about 1898 is they could have this as an exclusive bar for people staying at the hotel, so it is nice they let anyone come and enjoy... More

Its an exceptional place to eat from the roof terrace, however the night we were there was very windy and cold (blankets were provided!). Food and service was good.

I have never eaten or stayed at the hotel itself, however the rooftop patio is open to the public and it offers the quintessential Barcelona terrace experience. Drinks are expensive but if you order a Mojito (it will be the most expensive drink of your life) but it is well worth it just to soak in the views. A great... More

Go for it. You wont find the same Quality in the neighboorhood for the same price. Even wine is not too expensive.

So good. Long wait but worth it. Ask for recommendations from the English speaking waiters. I enjoyed the anchovies in vinegar and have been dreaming of them ever since.

The breakfast buffet is comprehensive and includes items expected and unexpected for every culture. Gastronomic dinner shows the chef's creativity with quality ingredients.

Great looking place, but a really sketchy restaurant. The food was underdone, and the service was horrendous

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
