The trio de tartar was outstanding and the cannelloni was excellent. The rest was good but not particularly outstanding. Prices were correct as well as service.

I don't often eat at a Michelin star restaurant and given the choice I prefer more "normal food", but visiting Gaig was certainly a evening to remember. We had a 9 course tasting menu which was exceptional. Some of our guests had certain dietary requirements which were easily satisfied without any delay or fuss. I have to say that the... More

Gaig is one of the most renowned restaurants in Barcelona, it has 1 Michelin star and it is located in Eixample, in the center of the city. The main chef is Carles Gaig, who gives the name to the restaurant and is one of the most famous chefs in Catalonia, and in Spain. The restaurant is very-well and modern decorated,... More

We chose to come to Barcelona to visit this restaurant as we had visited and loved the chef's place in the Canary Islands. However this was such a huge disappointment. We were rushed in and out in about 90 minutes the staff were disinterested and didn't even do the usual presentation of the food where they described what was being... More

Place and service were great, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I had high expectations for the food, which weren't met and it's a shame. Food tasted good, but wasn't special although it pretended to be. Service was fantastic and so was the music. Good for couples, business and small groups.

When we arrived at the locked door at 8.30 (the time we had booked), we could sse the staff inside and they saw us but were in no hurry to let us in, a bad start. When we were allowed inside, the staff (with one exception) were amateur, disinterested, and sometimes positively unfriendly. The tasting menu was adequately plated, nothing... More

Modern sophisticated decoration and an Impeccably uniformed waiter greet you as you enter this grand establishment. This is a busy restarurant due to its popularity and limited seating so you'll require a reservation, which I recommend you make two weeks in advance. It is a quite and elegant atmosphere restaurant, best described for fine dining, the service just like the... More

We had a very nice evening at Gaig. I can confirm the issues raised by other reviewers: the service has a certain attitude (nobody offered us to take our coats, for example), and the time between courses is very small, if you do not ask for a break which we had to do after going through 4 courses in barely... This is one of those restaurant where you'll never be disappointed. The food is always so good and interesting that is hard to stop loving it. The owner and Cheff is a great cook and his wife and the team are extraordinary. By the way, is spacious and quiet, something very hard to find today.

This restaurant is amazing. Extremely fresh products, an impeccable service. I like also very much the modern interior. They also have a restaurant in the Barcelona Airport, which has been nominated the best airport restaurant in the world.

Staying in Eixample

Neighbourhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
