Beautiful fresh food, artfully presented and excellent service. The Snapper was catch of the day and very tasty, cooked with a light wine sauce. My wife had the Beef Cheeks which was so tender it almost fell apart at the touch of a knife. All...the meals served to adjacent tables seemed to be just as eye catching as ours and very much enjoyed. The prices are mid-range but value for money given the quality of food, service and decor. The restaurant couldn't be better placed in the heart of El Born, the trendiest district. Enjoy a walk after the meal around the local cafes and bars. We are in Barcelona for a few more weeks so I'm sure we'll be back many times.More

Christmas Eve was a delight. Having just landed, we were a bit nervous about the combination of jet lag, a holiday night in a foreign city, and an unknown restaurant. Well, it was an extraordinary night - though the tab for the set menu was...72 euros (without wine), the meal was magical and one we will long remember. The cannoli appetizer was especially scrumptious!More

A fabulous dinner for two in Barcelona. My husband and I both had the tasting menu and we enjoyed every course. The accompanying flight of wines were beautifully chosen. Our two favourite courses were the tuna starter and the duck ravioli. We would come back...just for those two courses alone. The restaurant was very considerate at adjusting the menu for dietary requirements (I am currently pregnant and there are some things that I cannot eat). Would happily return next time we are in Barcelona.More

If you are looking for flavorful dishes with excellent vine pairing Montiel is the restaurant you should visit. We recommend the tasting menu with vine pairing as the combination of food and the chosen beverage for each dish is superb. This was our fifth or...sixth visit since 2010 and we will be back next time we visit Barcelona.More

What a thorough treat this turned out to be. An excellent two and half hours being served dish after delicious dish with great wine to accompany each. The final dish was the ultimate; passion fruit that tasted, well, like delicious bacon! Really well done to...all there.More

Eleven of us dined together at Montiel. It was a delightful experience with exceptional flavors. I enjoyed every course with exception of the dessert course. The little white cookies tasted like baking soda to me.

My wife and I dined here for our last night in Barcelona which happened to be a Sunday. I came across the restaurant whilst trying to find the best places open on Sunday the day before. I will admit I tried to book a couple...other places first which were already booked solid - so glad we ended up here! During our three week Europe adventure we made advance reservations at a three star Michelin restaurant in Rome as well as a one star Michelin restaurant in Florence. I noticed a Michelin sticker on the window as we arrived for our reservation which was a pleasant surprise - I’m unsure if they are still rated but our meal and wine were fantastic and up there quality wise. We had the cheese tasting plate as an app, wife had the ravioli as the vegetarian option while I had the traditional ravioli which had foie on top with duck filling. Both were exceptional. We shared two bottles of a red wine blend from Mallorca which was also some of the best wine on our trip. Service was good. Only complaint would have been the extremely loud group of 6-8 biotech/pharma convention women at the table next to us, yelling over one another the entire night. Absent of that the meal was excellent and would absolutely return / recommend!More

I have been to Restaurant Montiel 2 times now, and both times they deliver an absolutely perfect restaurant experience every time. The service is very warmfull and precise. The food is an amazing variation of local Spanish ingredients which in the tasting menu is put...together in such an amazing way. The wine is very local and tasteful and matches the food combination perfectly. You get a lot of value for your money, absolutely. The restaurant is very small, quite and cosy, which makes it perfect to visit with family, friends or business. I'm definitely gonna visit this restaurant again!More

The food is nice. But for this price range there are better options in Barcelona. Also the service was pretty bad.

My husband and I are vegans. We were looking for an open restaurant Christmas Eve and found on google Montiel that announced a vegan Christmas menu. I just couldn't let it pass like that, so I booked a table and were lucky to get one...last minute. Let me tell you.... forget everything you tried before. There simply not enough words to tell how amazing this experience have been. We cleaned up our starter plate a mushroom experience that was a blend of umami, sweet, bitter and sour. The red beet soup was light, bloomy and fruity. The tartare with avocado and ginger was filled with umami tastes. There are no words to describe the explotions of different tast in the mouth. We got a sulfit fre natural vin called Merla to go along with, never tasted something like that before. Cancel all the memories you have and reset your consciuousness in a forced meditation. The dessert (watermelon with a seaweed taste in the back, celery sorbet that needed to be warmed up in the mouth fo florish to its best, cinnamon crust, almond mynt cream. This combination blacked me out from everything I knew before. If I really have to give a minus was the plastic christmas decoration on the table but the rest was a 10 star for me. Definitively going back when in Barcelona. The sommerlier was a part of this amazing experience giving us all the informations and his passion for food and wine was catchy indeed. You have to try this place out. Just book in advance.More

My wife and I visited here after reading some of the reviews. The booking process via their website was quick and easy and on arrival we were quickly shown to our table. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and we chose the tasting...menu with matching wines. All I can is wow, each course was delicious and the paired wine matched the food well. Our favourites were the Ravioli (silky smooth and layers of flavour) and Suckling Pig (Mel in your mouth delicious). We are going to return to try other dishes off the A la Carte menu. We also tried the La Rochelle Oysters at the start, also delicious. Highly recommended.More

We travel a lot, and have been to quite a few Michelin starred restaurants. The food and presentation here was as good (or better in some cases) as many Michelin starred restaurants that I have been to. I did not expect this, but it was...indeed our conclusion after eating here. The seven course dinner was actually an anomaly, as every course was excellent- really- usually there are one or two that do not meet the expectations. But here every course actually exceeded our expectations. The duck ravioli was just indescribable. The tuna course was so fresh and literally had several tastes packed into it, but somehow they were separated...if that make any sense. It was all just so good. We were blown away by the food quality. The service is great as well. The only thing is that the restaurant has somewhat of a casual vibe, and many people were dressed very casually. So you are coming see for the food, not so much the fancy atmosphere- though it is absolutely spotless and with somewhat of a modern vibe. But it is not what I would consider a "fancy dress up place". That casual atmosphere might be a positive to some. But the food was 11/10. Really. I will be back here 100% on my next visit. BTW I heard the table behind us comment as they were leaving, "why didn't we find this place our first night here- we would have come back many nights". I thought the same thing.More
