About
Bodega La Palma is undoubtedly one of the most charismatic locals of the Gothic quarter in Barcelona. Marble tables, wine barrels, wooden benches and original furniture preserve the spirit of this emblematic local with more than 80 years of history. Opened in 1935 as a grocery store, it was transferred five years later, at which time it was reborn as a winery. It also served as an impromptu meeting point for artists, painters and poets of the recent history of Barcelona. In 1987, the business became " La Bodega de la Señora Maria" and adapted to the new times, including for the first time a coffee machine and a variety of homemade omelettes, without neglecting its tradition: the barrel wine. His daughter Carme continued the business adapting to the new times. The last change was in 2005 , when the new owners expanded the menu to convert the celler into what it is today: a place that perfectly combines traditional and innovation Catalan cuisine (tapas and menú) .

I was here for some tapas. In my opinion-the best patatas bravas in Barcelona. Very tasty, crispy in outside and soft inside, and served with very delicious sauces. We also take all three types of croquetts, all of them was good, but my favorite is deffinitely one with peas and mint. I take it only to try how it can taste like and after that I was bad at myself that I take only one :-).

the very good and typical food: we ate some really good and varied tapas ending, as a dessert, enjoying the Catalan cream: one of the best of my trip to Barcelona.
The service is complete and all the waiters are willing with a smile to fulfill all the culinary wishes of the customers.
As for the location is a bit 'confusing but it's clear how the shop environment has been transmitted to customers.
The price goes around 23 euros per person eating a tapas a dessert and having, why not, sangria.
In conclusion Recommendation this restaurant for all those who want to eat typical dishes in a workshop environment.

As has often been described here, everything was great. We had made a reservation in advance and were given a very friendly welcome. We ordered a ham and cheese platter and one with Catalan specialties, two glasses of wine and a bottle of water, paid just over 40 euros and were more than satisfied, see photos. Delicious!!!!

This quaint restaurant is a bit tricky to find but well worth the effort. We enjoyed our chat with Eric (his recommendations were always perfect) and the rest of the staff was very helpful and kind. We ordered the Iberian ham, cheese plate, cod with truffle oil, cheese artichoke tapas, and dessert- cream brûlée style dessert called Catalan cream & French toast with yogurt fruity red wine and cava topped of an excellent meal. The actual building is very old and lovely. Our visit was definitely one the highlights of the trip.

We took a chance and arrived slightly early to get in without a reservation. We were met with friendly warm and welcoming service. The smaller lady who served us with braces was an absolute gem! She was so friendly and helpful explaining the options and making us feel really valued. Each dish that was presented was so delicious, full of flavour and reasonably priced. We had pattas bravas, salt cod, cannelloni and the cheesecake. The wine here was also excellent. The service was superb. Whilst we were there a group of blind people arrived and one person asked where the restroom was. The very kind waitress took a blind lady and guided her all the way to the restroom. She was so respectful and caring for the guests in her restaurant. We loved the meal here very much recommended !

In the heart of the Barrio Gotico this place offers an authentic tapas experience. It is not a tourist trap. Our server, Luria, was attentive and a lot of fun. Some of the patrons that day were her friends and watching them interact made for great entertainment. The food was out of this world good. PATATAS BRAVAS. Awesome. We also had a beef with pistachio sauce and pimientos padrones. The beef was tender and cooked to perfection and the pimientos padrones was a great compliment to our meat and potato tapas meal. The crema catalana for dessert was the perfect ending. Highly recommend this place. Our favorite culinary experience while in Barcelona. Thanks Luria!

In the heart of the Barrio Gotico, Bodega La Palma offers an authentic tapas experience. We were part of a foodie tour and this was one of our stops. Our server, was attentive and a lot of fun. The food was superb. We had catalone (sp?) stuffed with mushrooms, beef and pea crochets, amazing white and red wines as well as a delectable custard desert that was mouth watering. The dessert was the perfect ending to our dining experience. Highly recommend this place. Our favorite culinary experience while in Barcelona thus far. We will return for sure!

We had made a reservation based on the recommendations we had read and were given a very friendly welcome. We ordered a cheese platter and one with Catalan specialties and tomato bread. Everything was delicious, including the white wine. See the pictures to whet your appetite. Including a bottle of water, we paid just under 40 euros for everything, so you really can't complain. Highly recommended!

This place is marvelous. We were lucky to get in so make a reservation if you can. If you can't it's worth the wait! We asked our waiter to suggest three of his favorite tapas. So happy we did. We have always shied away from blood sausage but he said it was the best. He wasn't kidding. My husband said that must have been someone's mothers recipe. The waiter winked and said "no, grandmothers!" It was smooth with perfectly cooked rice and warm spices. We had anchovies and a fresh tomato salad. I would have liked to have posted pictures with this but, we were too busy eating and enjoying the food to take pictures.

For some reason I never wrote any reviews after I got back from Barcelona in November! 🤦♂️
So here’s a late review but one I really wanted to write (but randomly didn’t at the time!) Anyhow…
We’d seen this place on a food video of Barcelona on YouTube and deceived we had to visit. We were in Barcelona for 4 nights and on the penultimate night finally found it. (Yes it’s a tough one to find without your mobile maps)
We got there and discovered that you needed to book either the 19:00 or 21:00 sitting. We arrived unbooked at around 20:00. Luckily they were really helpful and let us have a quickie for a bit until they needed the table at 21:00. So that’s a big thumbs up to start with.
As we didn’t have much time, we had a couple of tapas and a drink but booked for the next night.
So the next night came and we wandered down to take our seat up on the balcony overlooking the restaurant.
Let’s start with setting. It’s beautifully authentic and really cosy with the wine barrels all still in one place. And there’s a back story - back when it first started out as a restaurant/bodega many of the well-known artists of the time used to come here when they were penniless and they paid in art. There’s still an original on one of the shutters in the bodega. Reason to visit in itself!
Now the food. If you have nothing else, try the patatas bravas and the baccalat. But there’s plenty else as well.
The drink. Well I had vermouth (and it’s pretty potent!). My other half stuck to the cava which is lovely.
Service is great. For such a busy place the team are really friendly and attentive.
And price. So we didn’t hold back. We were full of food and wine and the overall bill was just over €100. So it’s pretty reasonable as well.
Just don’t forget to book!

real gem of a restaurant. Every dish we had was excellent, and the customer service was great too. Very decently priced, and the red wine is 10/10. would recommend turning up a bit before you want to eat as we went, put our names down and then returned in 30 minutes. Also the cheesecake absolutely slaps, would really recommend a visit if you’re in Barcelona.

After the vermouth accompanied by olives, we tasted delicious tapas, real Spanish specialties: dried tuna with citrus oil, smoked cod brandade with truffles, squid croquettes with dried ink, tomato and anchovy tartlet , mussels in white wine, garlic and chili, rice pudding with apple compote.... A real treat. The very welcoming owner who speaks French very well will advise you on the wine. This is a place that should not be missed.

Well... we wanted to eat in the Gothic quarter and.. after several searches here we are.. it was not the first choice and.. not even the second. Quality and choice we are on the medium-low... and then you easily exceed 25 € per person if you want to go out fed... nothing fancy .. basic cuisine .. not suitable for kitchen lovers... failed as it appears in the reviews. Otherwise just enough. Tourist level

The manager is friendly as in lip service but actual service wise, the waitering team is poor.
There were 4 of us and we were given a small table - in other restaurants, this table size will only seat 2 at most. So we could not order a lot of food and decided not to. There was a larger table but was not offered to us. Instead it was offered to some patrons who ordered beer only. Now this is very strange but maybe we were Asians and the other patrons were Europeans.
The food was also too salty. I know what I am talking about because I spent many days in Barcelona trying Spanish food.

I guess they got too succesful and now they only got tourists, then service is not as good as it should be. Rude waitresses and claiming they have the bext "bravas" in Barcelona. Really? Come on, be more humble. Prices are not cheap anymore and if you want to endure just another bar in the old city that was good before it became too famous, then you can try. Will never come back or recommend.
