If you want to get a feel for old world Barca, then here is a must. If you want fancy food on fancy tables then give here a skip. Good sized portions, very friendly. Small local bar, real authentic, worth finding. Good food served in a non fancy way on low tables in the bar Great experience, this place is... More

A nice quiet and characterful spot where we were very well looked after and that was just as expected. Nothing breathtaking for us in what we eat, nor outstandingly good value but perfectly reasonable, and for us a very satisfying meal with all the excellent ingredients that we were led to expect from other TA reviews. Certainly worth a visit... More

We wanted a quiet quality restaurant where the atmosphere was honest and the food good. We found it. No pretentions. A superb wine list. Food that proved the excellence of Spanish cuisine. And a host who was genuinely pleased to be serving you. Absolutely lovely evening. Thank you.

The last time I went to Mam i Teca was 2010. The staff are still the same. Wonderful tiny (18 seat) restaurant. Excellent music which is a bonus. Their food is real ''SlowFood''. We started with a white wine from penedes with a bowl of salted almonds. Thia wine is a real find. Then I had a simple spaghetti with... More

Went to this curious little bar restaurant with about six small tables on the strength of mainly good reviews on Tripadvisor and also in the Lonely Planet guide. It opened for dinner at eight and we were the first arrivals. We ordered some starters and a glass of white wine each. The olives and white anchovies on vinegar seemed to... More

Tiny wine bar hidden away in Ravel with high end local food from good quality produce run by a Catalan and a Dutch boy. Best house wine I have found in Barcelona. Reservations a must if you want to dine there but it is worth popping in to sit at the bar with a snack and see.

We were made to feel very welcome in this small bar which made catalan dishes as its speciality. We had a fish and bean dish and also the highly recommended Ribs and beans dish washed down with local wine. Nice quiet spot away from the bustle of the too touristy places.

This is a tiny little restaurant with simple, really good food. We had a wonderful mushroom sausage, asparagus with thin slices of mushrooms with garlic and roasted pepper, a simple pasta, and a very fresh mixed salad with tuna. If you are in the neighborhood, we would highly recommend you have a meal here.

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
