We had breakfast here 3 out of 5 mornings. Perhaps we should have branched out and tried other places too but we came here on day 1 and really enjoyed it so we just kept coming back. Besides they changed the food every morning so...there were always different things to try. The only thing we had more than once was the cigali (chickpeas and blood sausage) which is their signature dish so they serve it every day. The prawn omelette was my favourite but I remember the spinach omelette also being very nice. There was always a big pot of meat stew on the go. One day it was braised beef cheeks and another day it was oxtail stew. Both were good and came with tomato-rubbed bread to mop it up. There isn’t a menu – it’s not that sort of place. The waiters just let you know what’s available. There was a bit of a language barrier but for the most part, we relied on asking the waiters what was going that morning and simply saying ‘yes’, then waiting to see what turned up. Or we looked at what others had and pointed to those. Despite our hopelessly inadequate language skills, the waiters were helpful and friendly, especially once they recognised us on the second (and third) mornings. It was all good fun. Seating is on stools along the counter, where the food is cooked up in front of you. A space at the bar is highly prized and you might have to wait for a spot to become available. Pinotxo opens very early and I think we were normally there by 8-ish which was early enough to get a seat. Once you are seated, service is fast but once you are finished, it’s good form to move on rather than linger.More

This is a traditional tapas experience. No menu; just talk to the waiters and tell them what you'd like. The chickpeas and the fried artichokes were incredible. Great food, fast service, and very engaging waiters.

Opens at 8 am. Friendly and helpful service. Come for early for breakfast and you will be able to find a seat.

Fantastic little place on a great food market. Old batman seems to have been there forever. Fresh tasty food cooked quickly to order. Locals standing two deep, so you’ll have to squeeze in. Prawns, langoustines, octopus, chickpeas and sausage all delicious. Also fresh orange juice,...although the locals seem to just guzzle cava! Cash only (like many places in the market). If it’s too busy there’s plenty of other places to try, so just go along.More

It is very well known among locals and visiting foodies alike. We went early morning so we were able to get a seat at the bar easily. We came for the Cigrons (Chickpeas) because this is their famous dish and they were delicious but we...also saw some locals eating Cap i Pota which looked really good. So we came back the next day and ordered that. We absolutely loved it! One of the highlights of our European Trip. Also, the staff were really friendly and we even got to take a selfie with the famous Senhor Juanito. It is definitely one of our more memorable meals.More

First time at Bar Pinotxo. Recommended by many people. If you are apprehensive about the menu having no prices, then follow this simple rule - fresh seafood like lobster, prawns, codfish are hard to catch - therefore they have premium market rates. Be prepared to...pay for it. If you are on a budget, stay away from the seafood. I did my homework by visiting their website to see the dishes. A picture tells a thousand words. We went at around 9am and it was already quite busy and full. We stood behind a group of diners with empty plates - a sign that they are leaving soon. Waited less than 5 minutes before they vacated their seats. Service was prompt and friendly. The omelette had run out by the time we were seated. It’s their signature breakfast item. We (3pax) ordered the following; 1. 2 tomato rubbed ham montaditos - made to order using fresh ingredients 2. A serving of Cap i Pota (Head and Leg) - braised beef cheeks. It was super soft and flavourful. And the fat/collagen....... 3. A serving of tripe - again full of flavours 4. A skewer of grilled deer meat - great intense flavor. Recommended by their staff. 5. A serving of beef stew - very tender and flavourful 6. A serving of chickpeas - their signature dish 7. 3 cafe latte 8. 1 fresh raw oyster - fresh 9. 3 spinach croquette - really delicious That was all they had on the menu at that time. We tried almost everything. Bill came to about 25 euros per person. The bill is printed with the price of every item you ordered. I don’t think it’s a tourist trap and I think the prices are fair, considering the quality of the ingredients. You just need to know what you are ordering. The staff are all genuinely friendly and helpful. The younger staff members are fluent in English. Mutual respect goes a long way.More

Inside the Boqueria market there are many restaurant stalls, But this one is the standout I have been going here since 1987 and whenever I am in town I make a point of dropping by for lunch a few times. The food is prepared with...the finest ingredients from the market of the day. All are seasonal and pretty much anything you will get will be great. I love the baby squid (Chiperones) with garbanzos when the baby squid are in season, But since the menu varies every day I will usually ask for there recommendations. Be prepared to wait a little while for a spot at the counter, it will be worth it. Also as there are a lot of tourists in the Boqueria there are also a lot of pickpockets so be watchful.More

We absolutely loved Bar Pinotxo. Everything we ordered was a treat to the palate - the squid with white beans, tripas stew, fried lamb and grilled sausage. It was a tad expensive but totally worth it.

That chickpea and pork plate had such a fantastic flavor, and yet, such a homey feeling to it, left the restaurant for last day, but wished we had tried it earlier, since would definitely go back. Always packed though, so arm yourself with patience when...going there to wait for a chair to open up and enjoy. Ah, also, CASH ONLY!More

I absolutely love this place and all the people who work there. It was my second time there and the food was just so delicious. I think this place is a must-do in Barcelona, especially for foodies :) The only thing to keep in mind...is that they don't take any cards, just cash, and if you are going to be like me and eat everything or almost everything the average is 25 euros per person but is worth it.More
