Ate here a few years back, have obviously been successful because they have moved to new premises. Still the family restaurant it’s always been so you know pride is taken. All the dishes we had were excellent with those subtle tinges of flavour that I love about good Middle Eastern cooking. If you like Lebanese food or even if you want to try something a bit different well worth looking up. The dessert, the lotus cake with ice cream was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. You need to look for it though it’s through a door which look like the entrance to the electrical shop on the ground floor. It’s there but upstairs.

Went for our meal on Christmas Day and we really appreciated the attentiveness of the staff and quality of food. Restaurant is up some stairs through a gate and has a couple of little balconies overlooking the street. Nice ambience and an good menu. Lebanese homemade lemonade was delicious as was the wine. Everything is freshly prepared and delicious. I’d definitely return.

You walk up a dark staircase and wonder if having dinner at Al Amir is a wise choice. Then you walk into a bright and modern vaguely Oriental front dining room with additionally a few sought after balcony tables, and you know you’ve chosen well. The menu is Lebanese, so the main courses are quite meat heavy, but there is a very varied mezze selection with plenty of choice for us vegetarians. We visited twice for dinner and had different dishes on both occasions. The first time we had red pepper hummus, tabule, baba ganoush and a fabulous potato dish called batata harra. Each item was as it should be: the aubergine puree smoky, the tabule with lots of parsley. The second time we had a trio of dips, the bread salad fattoush and an excellent aubergine dish. Again, perfect fare. Portion sizes are quite generous, so don’t over order. They also do their own delicious version of brownies and a few other desserts. Cocktails are good, and a few nice wines available by the glass - all at a reasonable price. On both occasions our bill was just just under €50, good value for first rate food and drink. Service was proficient, but not particularly warm; don’t let that put you off.

I made a special visit to make a reservation and pick the table. When we arrived that evening our table was gone, moved to make a bigger table for a group. We were then asked if we wanted to sit on the balcony. I replied I'd like the table I'd chosen, so they begrudgingly moved another one to that location. My wife wanted to leave at that point and I should have agreed. The starters were pretty good, but we were only half way through when they brought the mains. In the past I've sent them back but invariably they just sit under a heat lamp drying out so we accepted them. My wife's beef skewers were nicely presented, my meal looked like it had been thrown on the plate. The chicken was just flavourless cubes of breast meat, nothing to enjoy really. We ended up sharing my wife's meal, which was OK but not great. When they came to clear the table we told them we didn't like the chicken dish, and to be fair to them they didn't charge for it. But I'd much rather have had the same quality we used to enjoy before they moved, and pay the full price. All told, a disappointing experience and we won't return. This new venue has none of the charm of the old place

Not only does Al-Amir have a couple tables on small balconies, it also has an interior courtyard that is incredibly quiet and relaxing when there are too many people out and about in Plaza de Charco. The food and drink are equally excellent, with some of the best side salads in town. The lamb shank, cooked its in own juices, is particularly good, and reminded me of mansaf (a similar dish cooked in Jordan). The local wines and Lebanese wines are excellent and good value as well.

Amazingly tasty food for both vegans and non vegans. My husband and I shared the hummus, baba ganoush, fatoush, lentil soup, cheese dumpling ( one dumpling was a vegan spinach one- delicious) and heura wrap. All dishes were exquisitely flavoured and well priced. Highly recommend!

We have eaten at this business's previous location several times and reported favourably. After a 2 year hiatus c/o Covid we finally got to eat at their new premises on 28th Feb this year. We had eaten at this location before when it was a French (?) restaurant, appreciating its views from the first floor (that's 2nd floor to you Americans) balcony tables, good quality decor and general air of spaciousness. These qualities remain and help Al-Amir improve upon their previous offering. The food and drinks remain well-priced and of good quality. The menu is particularly suited to vegetarians without this specifically being a veggie restaurant. Once we were allowed to take our masks off some of the staff remembered us, which is quite impressive given we haven't seen them for over 2 years. Recommended if you like the Lebanese style of cuisine.

We have visited this restaurant several times, including at their previous site across Plaza del Charco, and always found the food to be well-presented and tasty. On this occasion we brought along 2 friends for their first visit, and were fortunate to find we had been allocated the central balcony table overlooking Calle Blanco. Given the helpings are always on the generous side we find it best to order a first course per person and then share one main course between two. The restaurant is quite happy with this arrangement. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed the meal, including wine, water and some Zaperocos (or Barraquitos) as digestifs. The service was excellent, being the right balance between attentive and leaving you to enjoy the meal. Recommended.

The food here was really tasty and seemed very fresh. Even the simple things like bread and hummus starter were well done. Service was good. We had been looking for to eat somewhere outdoors but most places were full. Al Amir had tables upstairs next to an balcony which in a big room was as good as being outside.

We visited this restaurant twice as the food and ambience were first class. We were really impressed by the beautiful restaurant revealed after walking up the stairs of a very ordinary shopping area. I had vegetarian meals on both occasions, but my favourite was the moussaka, which was very light compared to the Greek variety I have had in the past. The hummus starter and flat breads were also delicious. My husband loved his lamb dish too. Service throughout was excellent and the music and ambience is totally relaxed. Great food and value for money. We will return on our next holiday.

Our first time to this restaurant and we were not disappointed the staff were very welcoming, and the menu choice was excellent we actually only ended up eating starters... but practically all of them! Everything was delicious. We also tried Lebanese wine, different! We will definitely be back

Great restaurant that served us vhi ken and kofte wraps, tabbouleh, fresh lemonade and beer. The wraps and hand cut fries were great and the tabbouleh the best I've eaten since leaving the Middle East ( I brought half the portion home!) We had a lovely balcony table on Calle Blanco. Don't be put off by the dark stairs to get here..look up, it's well worth it! There's an open patio at the back where they do shisha.

Honestly, the food here is fantastic! We were so surprised at how delicious it was. I eat at Lebanese restaurants frequently as it's my favourite cuisine, but I've never been anywhere which served food as delicious as this place. We were able to get a table on the balcony, which was very nice and romantic, but we noticed another area of the restaurant which was more lively. We discovered this place on the last day of our holiday, but if we had longer, we would have come back to try the other side of the restaurant. There are steps going up to it as it's on the first floor, so if you have mobility issues maybe check first if there is an alternative way up. I strongly recommend the dish Maklube. Really really really delicious. I wish we could have this restaurant in my home town 🎉

Our friend recommended the restaurant. I have never tried Lebanese cuisine, but now I love it. We had lunch there twice and both times the food was fresh and delicious. If we had stayed in Puerto de la Cruz longer I'm sure we would eat there few more times. The staff was friendly too.
