Portion size was good but the flavour was just not there. For example my main was a bowl of veal & nothing else - no vegetables or potatoes. So extremely bland and repeative. Service was average, same as being in a normal restaurant, where as in other Michelin Star restaurants we have been to service was exceptional. Waiters did not... More

Our second visit to San Sebastián was just as good as our first. There are some reviews that say the food was average, from my perspective the food was exceptional. From the start with the Bloody Mary, to the chocolates at the end and all points in-between it was food heaven. Normally when you go to a 3* restaurant these... More

Having dined at Akalarre 27-2-2017. I can honestly say that this restaurant appears to be resting on the laurels of its 3 star rating. We sent 3 dishes back to the kitchen and upon requesting to explain why to the chef we were informed that "He has gone home" we then attempted to suggest that we may discuss with the... More

Excellent food, service and it's on top of a mountain with fabulous ocean views. A little far from San Sebastián, but a very nice drive during the day. If you are a diabetic let them know when you get there and they will ask you what you would like and they will make it for you.

We went in a group of about 12 and enjoyed a choice of 3 different tasting menus. Since we shared our dishes around the table, we got to try nearly everything. Nearly every dish was unusual in some way, and all were tasty. The service was superb and the restaurant is attractive. Prices are steep, but worth it.

We loved Akelarre! Fun location outside of town. We were greeted by the head chef upon arrival. Set menus, but my husband and I chose different menus so we could try more. We really enjoyed each dish and its individual presentation. Also, fabulous wine pairings with each menu! Very friendly service and clearly a chef whose culinary genius has stood... More

Went for dinner with my daughter to give her a flavor of something different in food. And yes, it was a roundtrip of tastes, flavours and surprises. The most remarkable one was the sherry served! Please continue to create those standards of food, its an art!

I had a wonderful lunch in this restaurant. One of the best, actually. My best friend and I decided to visit as part of our weekend trip to a wedding nearby. Even with the dreary weather, the views were outstanding. The staff and service were impeccable. As for the servings, they were great portions and just sublime. By the end... More

My girlfriend and I just finished an amazing 3 hour experience at Akelare near San Sebastian. We're on a culinary weekend tour and we were looking forward to our first 3 star experience. It didn't disappoint!! We had the classic favourite menu with wine pairing and each dish was exquisite. The pairing was perfect . We also want to highlight... More
