We were recommended to visit Bar Paco Bueno by a colleague who had dined there a few years back. No tourista to be seen on the Monday night we were there, but plenty of locals who obviously know a good thing when they find it. Not much tapas on the bar but plenty of cooked to order hot food prepared... More

We did 21 pinxtos bars in 3 days and this was the one we went to twice. Not just because the croquettas and tempura prawns were delicious but because the service, welcome and atmosphere was magnificent. An authentic feel, you get the impression the place hasn't changed in years - and it doesn't need to. An essential stop on any... More

We stopped there attracted by the busy crowd inside. We were not disappointed as we enjoyed our favourite grilled pulpo and padron peppers.

This is the place you go to have a nice vermouth and great fried shrimp. That is the house speciality and really worth it.

This bar was heaving day and night, if you want a quiet drink and pinxos this is not for you. The bar staff were excellent at keeping everyone happy and Paco Bueno's grandson gave us a bit of the bar and family history.

Paco Bueno was a boxer who open a bar after retirement. The bar is full of back and white pictures of boxing fights. But the nicest thing of the place is not the old decoration but the fried tapas. It is an honest and traditional place and you can try the nice seafood tapas.

We stayed 1 week in San Sebastian, passed by this bar everyday and it was closed. They don't even have opening hours mention on the door. They stayed close when other bars were open. These guys did not seemed to care about their opening hours - they open when they want. I guess they made enough money.

THE BAR : The owner’s name is Paco Bueno, and he hung up his boxing gloves in 1950. His son Gorka Bueno played rugby for Biarritz for 3 years. Hence the sporting memorabilia on the walls. Together with mother Maria Jesus Aranburu, they pride themselves in simple, uncomplicated, top quality food, enjoyed by a steady stream of faithful locals. Go... More
