Had a fabulous lunch with Amancio guiding us through the menue after excellent jamon in the bodega. Don t miss the garbanzos with lobster a treat and classic of this place. Tomatoes fresh from the field and chipirones, small squid, and then a chuleton a fabulous basque style lunch before flying out of Bilbao. Lovely terrace with soectacular view of... More

You will find this place 15 minutes outside of the center of Bilbao by taxi, perched on the hillside with outstanding, panoramic views of the city. Well worth the visit. Start in the cellar with exceptional wine choices and the anchovies ( to die for ), ham as well. Then you migrate to the sun terrace on the ground floor... More

If you want to experience unequalled service, food and views of Bilbao and it´s magnificent surroundings from above, then this place ticks all the boxes. Patricio Valiño and his brother Amancio have re-built this old "Caserio" from ground up and done a truly stupendous job. You CANNOT miss the opportunity to experience the Turbot or the Chuleton or indeed the... More

From the moment I arrived, the service was impeccable. I had been traveling for over 24 hours and was quite delirious. The wine cellar was our first stop for some wine, anchovies and ham. Then we went outside and ate the most amazing tomatoes and onions. I had white asparagus which was so good. The best dish was the percebes... More

A charming place where my friend and I were met by the waiter who suggested we started out with some wine and ham in the cellar. Next we went upstairs and shared the monk fish, which was cooked to perfection. It would definately have been 5 stars from me if we did not leave the restaurant feeling tricked when we... More

Good food and service. The restaurant is a rebuilt old country house with beautiful views especially facing east toward Urquiola, and is sited alongside a nine-hold golf course. Nearby, there is a large and modern hotel complex which, unfortunately, has failed to get off the ground. Kate Zaharra provides good, traditional meals at a reasonable price.

Group of 40 guest in Kate Zaharra. Everything very good. Personal service, Aperitiv in the wine cellar, 3 course menu served with love. Great wine list, fantastic Gin and Tonics. Friendly service by Patricio and his staff. We come again.

Really excellent with a cave that holds aging meats and wines. I got the regional dishes and they were excellent. The maitre de chose the wines to go with the foods, which I had never eaten, and they were excellent choices.

Visited Kate Zaharra after many recommendations with a local friend in order to book a group for may. Very warm welcome by the owner - Start in the wine cellar - where they have all the spanish wines you ever wish to drink. Dinner upstairs - fresh local clams and seafood followed by a very tender cote de boeuf and... More
