El Centerario truly is brilliant for value and taste, such that I had lunch in the restaurant three times during my stay in Gijón in late August. The scene was set with my first meal there. As I gererally do, I ordered a starter and a main course. I began with Ensalada Mixta, which was listed under Entradas. This salad... More

When you want to have some sidra and eat something fried hot and fresh from the sea, head here. Chiporones fritos, calamares fritos, mejiones (any style really) croquetas whatever. I'm not too interested in meat when I'm by the sea. Its fresh and done well.

We stopped for lunch after the Sporting game. We randomly chose it because we don't live in Gijon, and it was a good choice. If you're looking for a typical sidrería but also good local food, this is the spot. We sat outside, even though it was raining...their terrace is covered and has outdoor heaters. Check my pictures for some... More

Located on the plaza mayor, a few yards along from the Galan sidreria, El Centenario also offers a traditional and cosy ambience. Behind the bar, tempting plates of crabs, and winkles were piled up ready for a busy Saturday night.

The place is not the modernest. However, the food is excellent, everything that we ordered was flavourful. I really recommend it to people who love eating.

Ate here for first time today. Wanted Menu del Dia & these had one for 10 euros. Quiet outside due to time of year. In a great spot in the main square, I imagine it'll be rammed in the summer months. Menu changes daily & they have the week's dishes set out on the boards. Unlike many places there is... More

We came on a hot Saturday at the peak of business, lucky to find a table outside. The food was pretty good, my pulpo absolutely perfect, the chipirones fantastic as well as the fish soup. But somehow we did not feel welcome, the waiters were inattentive and quite unfriendly. I know that in this area you are not always treated... More

The reception recommended the restaurant a few blocks from where I was staying, the place was always packed and full of locals, food was very good and tasty, prices are fair and portions very good, recommended if you are in Gijon

Chose the restaurant from a flyer in our hotel for lunch. I think the title of this review sums the place up and I won't waste anymore time on it. Much better to be had in the numerous side streets in the old town.
