Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very interesting meal. Multi course tasting menu. Great service. Some dishes much stronger than others. The “ show” presentation of dishes more memorable than many dishes , - still a unique experience I do not regret

I made a reservation for May 11th a month beforehand and received an email confirming the reservation. Then, a week before we left for Seville, I received an email cancelling the reservation informing me they didn't have the capacity. I was utterly unimpressed and told...them so. It's a lousy way to run a business. We had lovely food in Seville and so I am not disappointed but this is not a restaurant I would recommend.More

Horrible tasting food, only degustation menu available, zero options, and even more horrible wine paring choices. The Michelin star must be gone for some time. The celebrity chef is nowhere to be found. A little upset stomach, mostly from the wines.

Sadly no where near true Michelin class. Chef appears to have no subtlety or appreciation of seasoning balance, drowning everything with as much salt as they can cram in to each dish. Most courses swim in sauce, vegetables few and far between and little if...anything to justify to relatively high cost. To be fair the bread was adequate. Wine parings lack any imagination, shock it’s a sherry and orange wine dominated set list with boring parings. Don’t go unless you love cover version downbeat music. Other half says I am too harsh as toilets were good well not bad, apart from a lack of drying equipment! Go elsewhere in the old town.More

We wanted to go to a nice restaurant on our weekend trip to Seville and we certainly weren't disappointed. The 12 plate tasting menu was presented and explained with the right amount of flair, presentation and taste. Service was excellent as each dish and wine...were explained thoroughly. Wholeheartedly deserves Michelin star status.More

quite disappointing to be honest. I have read a lot of positive opinions about this restaurant. I don’t know if this is because of the local dishes or simply average taste but it was far away from Michelin star.

Overall, we really enjoyed our experience of Ispal. The starters were amazing (10 out of 10), the mains were excellent but not that memorable (8 out of 10), the deserts need improvement (6 out of 10) - far too sweet and very large portions which...were difficult to consume. We felt that the service was excellent, we were welcomed to the restaurant, every dish was explained very well, they offered a wide range of drinks. Although we are not into wine, we observed a waiter going over their wine selection with great care for anther couple. We were celebrating a birthday and had a special request for a small cake (this was better than the deserts) with a candle which was fulfilled brilliantly. Some of the dishes were quite unusual and amusing. The ambience was nice and pleasant, albeit the bathrooms need renovating. For our budget, we felt that the food was an excellent value for money in comparison to the UK restaurants from the Micheline guide.More

The food at ISPAL is really excellent, each dish perfectly prepared. For my taste, heavy sauces were used too often for hot main courses, but that is a personal taste. However, what I found lacking in a cuisine of this level were surprises or truly...exceptional plates. Nevertheless, the décor is very nice, the service perfect. You will certainly have a nice evening.More

I couldn’t fault the food or the service. The staff were amazing and the food sublime. Each dish was styled on tapas and each one was fantastic

Part of the reason I like to travel is to experience different cultures through their cuisine. I feel fortunate enough that I have had the chance to eat at multiple Michelin plate/star restaurants in Spain but unfortunately Ispal did not live up to the standard....First of all, we waited over 30 minutes until someone took our drink order. The staff of three was tending to 10 tables or 2 for the whole evening which seems like a disproportionate pairing. Secondly many of the dishes that contained fish were tough and overly chewy which is not what I would expect given the quality of the fish in the local area. Although the presentation of some of the dishes were beautiful, the textures they used to present the food in jellys and creams was unpalatable. I've never felt forced to stay and finish a meal but given that the only choice we had was the tasting menu, we couldnt just leave half way even though we had been very disappointed with the food. My partner and I honestly felt our meals at the local cerveceria were much better than at Ispal. The price of this tasting menu was also more that many other restaurants that we have been to that have had much better quality, presentation, and staff. Overall I would say that if you are looking for a high quality meal, this restaurant does not do Seville justice and would recommend booking elsewhere.More

2 set tasting menus offered of 10 or 15 courses. Had the 10, which was plenty of food. Highlights are the green tomato gazpacho and the peppermint mousse. Service friendly and helpful, although the wine list was complex and would suggest asking your waiter for...advice. Relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere.More

Ispal is extraordinary value for money. They have an excellent degustation menu and very interesting list of regional wines and drinks. BUT don't going here expecting a Michelin 2 or 3 star meal as you would at Azark, Azermundi, etc etc. Which I think is...where the negative reviews come from for this restaurant. It provides an excellent, varied, well prepared and tasty 12 course menu for ~$80. If you expect Michelin 2* + - which cost 5x as much - you will be disappointed. But if you are looking for a good quality and enjoyable evening with enthusiastic staff, then this is a great option.More

Great tasting menu. Michelin level quality food and service. Creative dishes without being too outlandish or strange, the way some Michelin restaurants can be. Excellent service. The wine pairing option was also great, plus the staff was very flexible in offering additional wine pairings when...requested.More

We came to Ispal with high hopes although we regretted that there was no choice but the tasting menu. Our unease began as soon as we were seated in the half-empty dining room and realised that there were no local diners: every client was a...tourist. The tasting menu (we took ours without the wine pairing) showed a great deal of preparation in the kitchen, but felt like a recollection of menus that were in vogue in the 1990s. Most of the dishes were amplified by unctuous sauces built with dry herbs and reductions. No fresh herbs or lightly cooked greens to lighten or complicate texture. The only memorable dish was the wonderfully strange ice cream flavoured with holy week incense. The serving was slow as the staff gave the impression of sleep-walking through the meal with a sad sort of indifference. And the music was an endless selection of cover versions of pop standards from the 1960s to 1990s. We would be surprised to find Ispal in operation next year.More

Don't think there is a set dress code but would definitely go smart casual. Both the males wore shorts and shirts and didn't look out of place

I’d say it is fairly limited but you’ll find something very delicious to eat. The theatre in this restaurant is brilliant. Big reveals and smokey deserts. Try the special butter for your bread. Have a good time
