Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Part of the reason I like to travel is to experience different cultures through their cuisine. I feel fortunate enough that I have had the chance to eat at multiple Michelin plate/star restaurants in Spain but unfortunately Ispal did not live up to the standard....First of all, we waited over 30 minutes until someone took our drink order. The staff of three was tending to 10 tables or 2 for the whole evening which seems like a disproportionate pairing. Secondly many of the dishes that contained fish were tough and overly chewy which is not what I would expect given the quality of the fish in the local area. Although the presentation of some of the dishes were beautiful, the textures they used to present the food in jellys and creams was unpalatable. I've never felt forced to stay and finish a meal but given that the only choice we had was the tasting menu, we couldnt just leave half way even though we had been very disappointed with the food. My partner and I honestly felt our meals at the local cerveceria were much better than at Ispal. The price of this tasting menu was also more that many other restaurants that we have been to that have had much better quality, presentation, and staff. Overall I would say that if you are looking for a high quality meal, this restaurant does not do Seville justice and would recommend booking elsewhere.More

2 set tasting menus offered of 10 or 15 courses. Had the 10, which was plenty of food. Highlights are the green tomato gazpacho and the peppermint mousse. Service friendly and helpful, although the wine list was complex and would suggest asking your waiter for...advice. Relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere.More

We had a reservation at 9.30pm. After arriving in the restaurant the only table they offered was in a corner at the entrance. No flexibility or service.

Ispal is extraordinary value for money. They have an excellent degustation menu and very interesting list of regional wines and drinks. BUT don't going here expecting a Michelin 2 or 3 star meal as you would at Azark, Azermundi, etc etc. Which I think is...where the negative reviews come from for this restaurant. It provides an excellent, varied, well prepared and tasty 12 course menu for ~$80. If you expect Michelin 2* + - which cost 5x as much - you will be disappointed. But if you are looking for a good quality and enjoyable evening with enthusiastic staff, then this is a great option.More

Great tasting menu. Michelin level quality food and service. Creative dishes without being too outlandish or strange, the way some Michelin restaurants can be. Excellent service. The wine pairing option was also great, plus the staff was very flexible in offering additional wine pairings when...requested.More

We came to Ispal with high hopes although we regretted that there was no choice but the tasting menu. Our unease began as soon as we were seated in the half-empty dining room and realised that there were no local diners: every client was a...tourist. The tasting menu (we took ours without the wine pairing) showed a great deal of preparation in the kitchen, but felt like a recollection of menus that were in vogue in the 1990s. Most of the dishes were amplified by unctuous sauces built with dry herbs and reductions. No fresh herbs or lightly cooked greens to lighten or complicate texture. The only memorable dish was the wonderfully strange ice cream flavoured with holy week incense. The serving was slow as the staff gave the impression of sleep-walking through the meal with a sad sort of indifference. And the music was an endless selection of cover versions of pop standards from the 1960s to 1990s. We would be surprised to find Ispal in operation next year.More

We had the 10 course tasting menu, excellent from start to finish, some wonderful flavours and beautifully presented. We also had the matched wines that complemented the food very well. The host was very friendly and explained each course as it was presented. Great night.

Nice tasting menu. We had the 9-course version at €69 plus paired wines so total of €99 per head. The food was nice, the service was good, no problems there. If you’re into the tasting menu concept, where chefs have put a lot of time...and effort into something special, then great. We enjoyed it and found it good value at the price. Would probably have gone with our own wine choice to be honest - didn’t like some of the quirky paired wines. Atmosphere was a bit lacking - we went at 8.30pm on a Saturday night. The clientele was well dressed, international and reserved. There was no buzz. Maybe we should have stuck with the boisterous tapas bars!More

My wife and I had dinner here. The tasting menu was rather nice and service has been incredibly good too. We also a nice recommendation for the wine, which was excellent. I think that it was a good value dinner (175 euros for 2ppl for...a 10 courses tasting menu with water and a bottle of white) The only bad feedback is about the seaweed that comes with caviar, as it was so salty and not really edible - if you serve it to me on a plate, I can only assume it can be eatten, but it was actually horrible... Highly recommended!More

An overall wonderful experience — great food and ambiance! We did the 9 course tasting menu which was plenty. Everything was delicious and it felt very reasonably priced - would recommend!

We visited as a couple in October ‘22. Twelve course tasting manu offered lovely imaginative food. Andalucian cuisine with the twist for those wanting to try out of ordinary. Food was very well seasoned and 12 course was more than enough. Waiter was excellent in...recommending local wines that were very reasonably priced. Lovely special occasion evening. Good value particularly when compared to the simillar standard restaurants in the UK.More

We stumbled upon Ispal while searching for a nice lunch spot in Sevilla. The interior attracted us and it did not disappoint. However, it was quite warm inside and we were asked if we had a reservation but the place was basically empty. Luckily, we...were seated. The food was tasty but very slow to get everything out. My entree came after everyone had finished their meal and I honestly thought it was forgotten. By the time it arrived I no longer wanted it after snacking on other items. That said, I would still recommend it for the lovely interior and interesting food options that were yummy.More

On arrival, the ambience in the restaurant seemed very nice. Thankfully my wife and I selected the smaller of the two tapas set menus. Once the food started to arrive, the atmosphere started to change. Some of the food tasted like it had been prepared...in the hours if not days before. The food was average at best and for some of the tapes courses, that's being very generous. The service was good but the food really let this restaurant down. A real shame.......More

Booked this place for my dads 70th birthday we all decided to go for the tasting menu & 3 of us went for the wine pairing. In my experience wine pairing you would normally get a small wine/drink that complements each dish…… but this wasn’t...the case we had about 4 small drinks over the 10 courses. Service was mediocre, the food wasn’t amazing some of the dishes were warm but not hot! Totally not being fussy as we have eaten in Michelin star places & Michelin rated of which I believe this restaurant is ‘Michelin rated’ Overall is was a very underwhelming experience. Very sad as it ruined my dads birthday. Not worth the money, go to a proper Spanish restaurant in the old quarters!More

I’d say it is fairly limited but you’ll find something very delicious to eat. The theatre in this restaurant is brilliant. Big reveals and smokey deserts. Try the special butter for your bread. Have a good time
