When cold beer and a tapa were needed on summer Saturday afternoon, the Encina chalkboard promised to deliver - with black rice (squid ink, squid pieces and alioli) as the first item on the list. Very good! We came back later in the weekend for wine and cheese (a tapa of manchego, and one of mature cheese in oil), and... More

My boyfriend and I were very excited to eat at la Encina, it received great reviews however we were disappointed. We ordered tapas and a litre of sangria which we throughly enjoyed however it went downhill from there. We ordered red wine which was not great and tasted more like port. I then went on to order the 'seabass and... More

Me and my boyfriend chose this cute spanish restaurant to watch the Euros and felt comfortable being there so went back the following night. Not many people in Almeria seem to be fluent English but the bar man (blonde man from Colombia) was friendly and made an effort to talk to us. The tapas was good and reasonably priced. Would... Came across this restaurant accidentally. Minutes after sitting down all the tables were full and we soon found out why. An excellent tapas choice, great service and central location make this a good place to eat. Reasonably priced as well.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Almeria! Not totally appealing from outside, the food served is spectacular. An absolute recommendation when visiting Almeria. Added benefit: they offer a lot of gluten free choices

Dinner here was a highlight of our stay in almeria. Outdoor seating. Fresh food (loved the eggplant chips especially! Yum). Great service. I would definitely recommend going here if you find yourself in almeria!

Service was pretty fast however the vino that came out with the cold tapas was terrible, iv seen better side salads in a franchised restaurant. The food we ate was cheap though probably due to only ordering two dishes and then leaving shortly after

We found the food very good particularly the mussels. The staff are very friendly and our evenings were most enjoyable. Worth a visit.

Upon arrival in almeria, we had an early afternoon bite on the terrace of la encina, pleasant moment, quick service, excellent tapas > try the house speciality Croquetas ! As well as the Patatas a lo pobre! And the Calamares fritos were of course very fresh ! We didn t try the interior of the Encina, which looked very typical... More

My lovely wife and I were staying nearby so decided to call into La Encina for dinner after reading the many good reviews on this esteemed site. How disappointed we were! Service was slow and borderline rude. At times it felt like the waiter was deliberately ignoring my desperate attempts to get his attention. Perhaps my faltering attempts at Spanish... More
