You can choose from 3 different menus, Amalie, Gerard and vegetarian. It is a bit strange that you cannot choose dishes from more than one menu, as the prices are identical. Wehad 4 dishes from Amalie and four from Gerard and it was all very...good. The champignon soup with wild pork was an explosion of umami taste. The duck a'lorange was great and the 3 different cheeses at the end surprisingly delicate. Onlye downside - and the reason why I am not prividing5 stars - is that when ask for water you will get Eivan, imported from France. In these climate days its is a scandal to transport H2O across long distances and every time a restaurant serves imported water, I will mention and downgrade. Service was fantastic. Danes should know you might meet with footballer Yussef Poulsen ath this restauarnt.More

For us to have a good dinner is not just the food, it is combination of the total experience; the atmosphere of the place, the personal touch in the service, the variation of tastes, all of which will create a memory which can be remembered...a long time afterwards. C'est la vie was found by co-incidence on the Michelin guide website and they deserve a star from them on our humble opinion. We shall always remember this particular restaurant in Leipzig and it's wonderful staff. Many thanks!More

Food is great but doesn’t deserve the money… the environment isn’t very good..no curtains and flies inside…a bit too much for 70 per person minimum

We had a five course tasting menu with wine pairings, at a cost of around €150 per person. Firstly, a positive: the staff were lovely, very welcoming and we enjoyed chatting to them. Which makes me feel bad about leaving a negative review, but I...do think others need to know that eating here can be a gamble… Service was unbelievably slow throughout the evening. Our five tasting plates were served over 4.5 hours, so roughly a 45 min wait between each course / taste of wine, meaning the vast majority of the evening was spent simply waiting without anything to eat or drink. It was hard work to get the staff’s attention, despite the restaurant being largely empty, so no opportunities to e.g. order additional drinks between courses. Food was massively underwhelming. Some dishes were interesting (the bière aux cèpes was good fun), but most were nowhere near good enough to justify being on a tasting menu of this price. The risotto à la courgette was an absolutely bog-standard risotto, and the epinards dish really was just some wilted spinach with cous cous – barely better than you’d expect to cook at home. Whilst the wines were all excellent, the disjointed service often meant we had food without wine or vice versa, which did detract from the enjoyment. I really don’t mind spending this much on a dinner, especially for tasting menus which usually make for a fun evening. But we left here feeling frustrated, disappointed and completely ripped off. Looking at the other - generally excellent - reviews on here, I have no doubt that if we had come on a different night, and perhaps ordered some different dishes, we might have had a great time. But be warned that a good evening isn’t guaranteed…More

We decided to take a spontaneous trip to Leipzig and found the recommendations for this restaurant on numerous websites. I must say, it didn’t disappoint. The service was impeccable from the moment we walked in, the food with the wine pairing astonishing and the ambiance...just right. The portions are of course “smaller than usual” but the adventure of tasting everything makes up for it. Dear team, it was a pleasure meeting you, thanks for the amazing experience and until next time....More

If you value an unforgettable dining experience presented to you by the most friendly and professional staff imaginable you must experience C’Est la Vie whenever you visit Leipzig. Outstanding food from an entirely flexible menu with artistic presentation. An entire vegetarian selection that will convert...any carnivore. Amazing fish dishes, farm to table fresh ingredients - I cannot say enough. Deborah and her service team cannot be more friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the food and the art of a special dining experience. A “Tour de France” wine list presented by Inga, the most knowledgeable and engaging sommelier I have ever met. You can experience the most famous of the noble Bordeaux producers or take Inga’s lead and learn about amazing undiscovered French wines for prices that will just let you order a third or forth bottle without even thinking twice. A wonderful experience not to be missed.More

We really enjoyed out night here. Service was impeccable. Wines were heavily French influenced and a bit pricey. You really couldn't fault anything. It was an extremely warm evening and with no a/c it was a bit uncomfortable. It looks to be a strong contender...to getting a Michelin star.More

My husband Tom & I have to thank the many reviewers on Trip Advisor who gave such outstanding and detailed summaries of their experience at C'est la vie. Our evening there was simply wonderful. The restaurant is small (seats about 65) has an open kitchen,...has been recently and very tastefully renovated in a simple yet elegant style. It's been open for 3 1/2 years. We were greeted by Dior who speaks English with a lovely South African lilt, as well as French and German. She was a delightful guide to the menu and offered excellent suggestions. Inga is both an owner and the sommelier for this lovely restaurant. We chose the 3 course tasting menu with wine parings (there is also the option of a 5 and 7 course tasting menu as well) and Inga explained the origin, varietals and attributes of each French wine we had. I was also very glad to be able to request a red wine paring for each of my 3 courses as I'm not so keen on whites. Each course was exquisite in both flavor and design. The dishes were delectable works of art. My husband opted for the Amelie tasting menu and I chose the Gerard, so we had six different dishes to sample. Tom's loved the fois gras (plated as little mushrooms) and his sea bass. He had the rhubarb tart for dessert. My terrine was a tasty starter and the lobster was the best I have ever eaten. The macaroons I was served with woodruff cubes was so delicious. I've never encountered the herb woodruff up to this point in my dining adventures. We would happy returnMore

Clearly - location is bit hidden near the City center... but worth walking 200m more to experience "C'est la vie". Excellent food and an exceptional wine choice (mainly French). Good names and right vintage. Two owners are clearly deserving better recognition for their works.

Delightful evening with fine food and excellent service. We chose the wine pairings with the 5 course tasting menu, and as well as providing a splendid match to the food, this opened up warm conversations with the restaurant owners, which added to the enjoyment. The quality of the food was excellent, no doubt about it. The fois gras starter is an awesome creation, congratulations on that. The problem was the wine. We ordered a bottle of red wine, and it took quite a long time until the waiter came...back and informed us that there is a problem, the cork got broken by opening. We found it a bit surprising that such a good quality bottle was not opened in front of our eyes but somewhere in the kitchen. My husband wanted to see at least the cork, but that never happened. We recommended to filter the wine, which was done, and we the wine was served only after the starters were served - it took almost an hour after our arrival. The sommelier never came to us to explain the situation. At the end they gave us some reduction for the price and the very polite waiter did his best to excuse. We also found the decoration of the restaurant a bit cold, not really French.More

Wow. I have to add to the accolades. My hubby and I visited for my birthday dinner, and this restaurant surpassed all our expectations in every way possible. The staff was warm, knowledgeable and absolutely lovely. The food was incredible and the wine pairings perfect...(we had 3 courses with wine). The origins and history of the various wines were fully explained to us with every glass. We were treated to additional courses and wine throughout. I am somewhat of a foodie and also appreciate good wine, and I have never had such a delightful experience. We were totally pampered the entire time. This restaurant is such a gem! I highly recommend it!More

C'est la vie is by a wide margin the best fine dining restaurant in Leipzig that I have been to. We've been to Falco (2 Michelin Stars), which was at most a 1 Star performance. Granted, we were at Falco between Christmas and New Years...Eve, when the A Team in restaurants tends to be on vacation We have been to just about every highly-rated restaurant in Leipzig. Max Enk (good wines, but just OK food), Mifune (novice, if not incompetent, Teppanyaki), etc. Sadly, there aren't a great many fine dining choices in Leipzig. Leipzig appears to be a culinary wasteland. Or so I thought. C'est la vie showed creativity and flavor that will hold up anywhere. I use Trip Avisor a lot, but I don't write a lot of reviews. C'est la vie inspired me to sit down and actually write a review. The foie gras, one of my staple dishes, was inspired. The pheasant cooked in spiced milk was prefect. The amuse bouche deserves an honorable mention. The sommelier was knowledgeable and patient. The potato essence soup was plain divine. Never had anything like it and I have been to more Michelin stars and Top 50 restaurants than I can count. Minus points for the bread and the first wine, both of which were boring. The latter might be due to the fact that our group had a bottle of Champagne prior, but the sommelier needs to take prior beverage consumption into account when selecting wines. Bottom line: clear Michelin 1 Star performance.More

We had a wonderful experience at C’est la Vie. Debra, our waitress was knowledgeable and extremely accommodating. She was the best. The food, was artfully presented and tasted better than it looked. I agree with a previous reviewer. 5 stars is not enough for this...jewel of a restaurant. Foie Gras was the best I have ever had and I am a Foie Gras junkie. Best restaurant ever. Don’t miss it.
