Whilst visiting Dusseldorf for the weekend we wanted to go to an authentic German restaurant. We researched and found this one recommended by Rick Stein. We booked the table before leaving England by email and received a lovely message back. We arrived at the restaurant...More

I walked in for lunch at the suggestion of a friend. I was immediately seated away from the cold door and in view of the coffee bar. I ordered the Metzgers platter with sauerkraut and a large Alt beer. The food was delivered steaming hot...More

Zum Schiffchen is a typical German restaurant with good food. It is a big restaurant but cosy due to the multiple smaller rooms. The portions are big. Service is good. Great beer.

Slightly off the main strip of restaurants in Dusseldorf's old town, this is one of a handful of authentic-looking German breweries in the area. The bright fluorescent lighting belies the warm and buzzing atmosphere inside. The food portions were generous, and although we didn't order...More

It was a last chance to eat pork knuckle before leaving Dusseldorf. So I found a place near my hotel, and sat nicely outside and enjoyed the warm afternoon over a glass of unfiltered beer and one schnaps. Pork knuckle arrived. Part of the meat...More

Zum Schiffchen has been serving Schweinhaxe and Altbier for more than 300 years and they have it figured out. Being late in the lunch service, the waiter offered us a bigger, more comfortable table. The Rindertatar (steak tartare) is a good-sized serve of quality beef...More
