In Cologne for the day with German-speaking locals from Dusseldorf, we ended up eating at Gaffel am Dom on a whim. It was a great call. Despite being busy, we were immediately seated in the back of the hall and beer started flowing. Next to us was a stag party with the drunken groom in pink pants with gold rickrack... More

Stopped in here because we were near the Dom, had already tried Paffgen brauerei for lunch and wanted to try a different kolsch (Gaffel) for comparison. We walked in at 5:30 (17:30) and the place was packed, but we were able to find a table. The kolsch is tasty and goes down easy (but Paffgen is better beer; the Gaffel... More

There were a lot of tables so we could find a table for three without reservation at 19:30 even a night of the game Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich. Many people watched the game on TV screens in the restaurant but the atmosphere was definitely not "football crazy".

Just next to the Dom, you can't miss this! Huge place with very efficient staff-old Gentlemen taking orders and young ladies bringing the stuff on to your tables. The Kölsh is quite nice and a must drink in Köln.

Kölsch beer in tiny glasses. Nothing bigger than 0.2l, but keeps it fresh and refills are there before you ask. Really good schnitzel with black pudding, great place to start an evening.

Came here for the Kölsch and didn't order day food. The beer was good, light and smooth, went down easy - like water. Friendly and attentive service!

We ordered lunch of 4pax shared by 6pax. Portion just too big for us. House brand beer is must try! Recommended. Big portion, reasonable & affordable price.

Gaffel is a popular and excellent brew in Köln ('Kölsch') They are located across a busy street from the cathedral. The place is noisy and much of the seating is along wooden benches. The food is beer hall German, with really good sausages and meats. The Gaffel Kölsch comes in small glasses and keeps on coming until you say STOP... More

Crowded place, located at the footsteps of Dom, reservation is recommended. They offer German traditional sausages, schnitzel, etc. but I had the piglet, cheesecake (both very good) and lots of house beer (200ml/glass). Was funny how the waitress kept the cold beers coming. The interior is genuine and the service is really fast considering how full it was.

Just in front of the Dom Cathedral. Good place to have a rest and drink Kölsch. Food is also good but service is slow.
