Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

The staff was very friendly. There was no table available at first, but we were allowed to wait inside. When a table became available, we were immediately informed. The atmosphere is pleasant, the food was very tasty and the price-quality ratio was good. All in...all, a top experience! PS. If you can spare it, leave a tip for this team ;)More

Very friendly place for a late dinner. Shared dishes you eat with your hands. We loved the spinach, lentils and potatoes. Try the Ethiopian or Ghanaian beers

Conceptually this is a great restaurant. However, I was slightly disappointed with the food (vegetarian mixed platter). It looked rather dull (but I think that's sort of how it's supposed to look), but more disappointingly it also lacked some taste. It was basically ok, but...I was definitely expecting more.More

I have always enjoyed african restaurant. Also base on tripadvors rankings I had high expectations for this restaurant. I was a bit disappointed. You can have different vegan or meat based stews served on a sort of pitta bread with which you should take the...stew and eat it. I think the taste of the bread is so strong that killer the taste of the stew. I had chikpeas, beef with okra lentils and chicken. They all tasted almost the same until the really end when i asked for cutlery and i could eat the stews without the bread. Only then i realized the stews were delicious. My humbe recommendation: eat the european way, ask for cutlery you will enjoy african delicious stews more.More

Honey. Just come once. It is worth the experience. You cannot really choose what to eat. Hence while it is an amazing first time African food, I wouldn’t go twice. Place 5/5 Experience 5/5 Food 5/5 Variety 3/5

The food was very tasty and filling. Although I only got takeaway, I wish I'd eaten in. The interior is amazing and has such a strong ambience. I highly recommend going to this place just to check out the vibe and to experience Ethiopian culture...and cuisine. As part of this authentic experience, the food is eaten with your hands using bread, and I really appreciated that they had a gluten free alternative that meant I did not miss out on the experience. The waitress for this place was extremely knowledgeable about the food and helped me a lot with navigating the menu despite my dietary requirements. The food tasted really good and you get a huge portion so you will definitely not leave feeling hungry. My one critique would be that the food was quite expensive (~15EUR) for a portion which was about double what I needed. I would have really loved a half portion of the food for half the price, although if I had been able to share with another person this would have been perfect.More

Please dont get me wrong. The food is really good. Nothing to complain here really. The only thing I have to complain is, that I asked for a spoon but I had a discussion about 15 minutes really to get a spoon. The waitress was...kind of sorry but told me that they don't serve cutlery to the food because they want to have it as authentic as possible which really doesn't make sense to be honest but which I respect. She then called the manager who told me that they don't serve spoons. So I asked him again very politely that I would like to eat my food with a spoon. I mean it's not a sandwich, the dish I had was like stew. Delicious but yeah..hard to eat if you are not familiar with it and it does not look nice doing it. Plus I could not eat more of the bread due to my diabetes. I had to discuss this with the manager on the table in front of many other guests which was a really unpleasent situation so that I lost a bit my Patience and told him at the end that I am sick and that i have diabetes and would like to enjoy the stew-like dish without the bread if possible. He offered me cucumbers instead of a spoon then. At the end I shouted I am sick do you understand, I am sick and I just want to have my food as long as it's warm and delicious but which he just ruined. I was really patient and very friendly but then again I thought , come on many I just want a spoon. Why do I have to mention that I am sick in front of other clients? Do you need to see a doctors report for that too? I mean I get it, I really doy but no sorry. If a guest asks politely for a spoon several times, than please give him one before making him feel uncomfortable or write it in your menu that you take it very seriously with eating with hands and I will chose another restaurant. It's not the first Ethiopian restaurant I visit. Good food, but don't go there if you want a spoon. And I love eating with my hands but try to eat a stew-like dish with your hand in a restaurant. You, the restaurant manager sir, need to learn a lot how to treat customers who respects the customs that you setup but who you don't respect when he tries to explain for 15 minutes why he needs a spoon while everyone is listening and he at the end has to say loud I am sick and I just want to eat. Well done sir. Of course I paid and even gave a tip. Enjoy it. I the tip went to the waitress, who kind of understood me, given her look. You made this evening unforgettable.More

Very nice and cultural decoration inside with the sandy floor. The waiters and waitresses were super friendly and they taught us how to eat with our hands and bread. The portion was big for the platte. Highly recommend those drinks. Very tasty and also looks...beautiful. Quite an experience in this restaurant.More

Loved the food and the service was fantastic. Everything from the hummus to the vegetarian platter and drinks were perfect. Best meal I have had in a long time. We sat in a cute little alcove off of the stairs in the space to the...right of the main seating area. It was great and so fun. Will definitely return. Very authentic experience.More

I've visited this place for the second time now and i haven't been disappointed so far. The staff is friendly although seems very busy. We ordered some if the homemade lemonade... So delicious! And also the hummus is worth a try because the taste is...very good. We had a meal with beef and two mixed vegetarian plates. Everything tasted very good and we had nothing to complain. As a dessert try the African banana cream. I would always recommend to reserve in advance but it's definitely worth a visitMore

I was here on a Saturday evening. Went there quite late without a reservation and guess I was lucky as this trendy place is frequented a lot. I started with a delicious humus and continued with a mixed platter. One can chose from different vegetarian...or meat dishes (chicken, beef). Would suggest not to take a starter when yo take the mixed platter as it is a quite big portion. All goes at a ery moderate price. Very good place!More
