I am particularly fond of this beer hall as I discovered my new favourite hefe weissbier on the first day of visiting Berlin- I have now tracked it down to stockists in the uk, so thanks for that!! We sat outside on a lovely, unusually warm February afternoon having just landed in Berlin, and wanted some lunch. I had the... More

If I could give 0 stars I would. The waiter who dealt with us was horrible and unfriendly. He told me that they didn't have the meal I wanted, no apology, and stood over me waiting until I picked another option. He never returned after our food was served. When we paid, he rolled his eyes and sighed in an... More

We reserved this restaurant for a group of 40 Japanese business visitors to Berlin in May. The restaurant is very atmospheric with a cellar, and the waitresses in traditional Bavarian costume, with very friendly jovial service, and good food and beer! Really fantastic helpful English speaking staff to deal with to organise the reservation, and payment etc beforehand and afterward.... More

Just walked in with 15 people for Lunch, not a problem for the staff. Great mix of traditional German food and awesome selection of beers, including an enormous 3 litre option. Due to the size of the beer spent quite a few hours on a sunday afternoon, great experience highly recommended

We saw this restaurant during when we started our Walking Tour. Seemed like a good place to try Authentic German Food so came back here later in the Evening. We were no disappointed, the food was very good. They Served some nice cold beer. The staff were very friendly, especially the lady who served us.

Typical Bavarian restaurant (so for non-Germans, think of a typical German pub in your home city and you're probably pretty close). The food consists of all different kinds of meat, a lot of chicken. I went for the pork knuckle as I haven't had a bad one in Germany before. The cracking was excellent and I washed it down with... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
