8 of us went to Rutz for dinner. We all had the 6 course tasting menu and asked the sommelier to give us matching wines. The food was outstanding and truly memorable. Local produce cooked in highly imaginative ways. Reading the menu in no way prepared us for the incredible food. Modern, light and with an emphasis on local vegetables.... More

The wine bar in Rutz is the best kept secret in this Michelin starred restaurant. For the star and the attendant prices go up the stairs. For uncomplicated but excellent German cuisine take a seat on the ground floor, surrounded by 1,000 different wines. We started with the delicious country cucumber salad with Feta cheese and kefir dressing (6,50 Euros)... More

We had a fantastic 9 course meal at Rutz on our first night in Berlin. We both went with the wine pairings, as it is a wine bar, and loved the sommelier's choices. Almost all the wines were German, and each one was new and tasty. The nine course meal we had was primarily fish (4-5 of the plates) and... More

This was my first visit to Berlin in... 28 years :). The city had changed, the eating habits and places, too.... Rutz is a veeery good eating and drinking place, actually, it is one of the best restaurants we've ever visited! We tried the 9 stages tasting menu, each dish paired "rebelliously" with wine by the sommelier. Explosion of tastes,... More

I would say the food ranks higher than some of the 3 Michelin star Parisian restaurants. The place was modern yet simple. Service was personal. Food, like I said, was great ! We ordered a bottle of German Red as recommended. It paired with all the dishes in our set menu. I am not a beef eater, they were flexible... More

Great wine bar! Food was very good and had a beautiful presentation . The Sommelier recommended four different and perfect wines for the dinner. my only complain regards to the fact no one mentionned about the restaurant on the second floor. This would be my first choice when I have read about the place. I thought it was the same... More

My husband and I were visiting Berlin from Canada and chose Rutz Weinbar to celebrate New Years Eve. As is typical with most Berlin establishments on New Years, this was a full evening with a fixed menu including wine pairings and as such, I cannot comment on their a la carte menu. The evening was stretched out over five hours... More

We went to the Wine Bar and were looked after perfectly. They gets lots of things just right and we could not fault the service. Food had strong German influences which is what we were looking for.

Very friendly staff. Had the menu with corresponding wines. It was all good but it didn't wow us. The only thing that wowed us was the bill at the end!

Thank Isabella A

A michelin star restaurant with Marco Muller one of the best chefs in germany.
From first impressions, our unimposing facade offers little of what lies within. From the moment you step inside, the RUTZ Restaurant opens up like an art gallery delivering a puristic rooms-within-rooms concept, Restaurant and Winebar. Elegant and yet simultaneously harmonious.
The RUTZ Restaurant is located on the first floor. Here you enjoy a modern laid back atmosphere amongst natural materials and an exclusive ambience of high-end hospitality.
Here you will find a perfect combination in every dish of flavor balance and creative inspiration.
Our Head Chef Marco Muller is dedicated to delivering naturally sourced ingredients of only the highest standard and variety. His creative and yet well-balanced cuisine focuses on originality, naturality and aromatics.

A great wine bar with a huge wine list. Our multi-award winning wine list offers over 850 unique bottlings with a primary focus on Riesling and German wines.
On behalf of Michelin Star chef Marco Muller, Head Sommelier, Restaurant Manager and the whole RUTZ Team, we look forward to hosting you soon.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
