There are many Indian restaurants to choose from in Berlin and we found Masaledar due to their Paneer (cheese dishes) and the food did not disappoint! Great food and nice atmosphere.

For authentic Indian food in Berlin Masaledar is the place to go to. Staff are friendly and service is good. Seven of us visited Masaledar, and we ordered mango lassis , pakoras, naan and paneer gravy. The food was served within minutes of placing the order, and was delicious. Enjoyed eating at Masaledar!

When we arrived, the place had about 6 guests, but it took about 5 minutes to get our drinks and 40 to get the food. If you knew the quality of the food here during the late 1990s when it was called India Haus, then I'd tell you that the cook had a bad day. But the food was still... More

Nice food and pleasant staff. Could do with some refurbishment. Maybe some advertising on groupon as well as its is often quiet.

Based on the other reviews I decided to go to Masaledar, but I must admit I was disapointed. Looking at some of the other reviews I can only assume that some of them have been made by staff or similar to boost the rating of this restaurant. Too many 5 star reviews with too specific information about the specials and... More

I went to this restaurant on a friday evening with few friends and the restaurant was almost full and we could see the food sizzle on a hot plate as it came out of the kitchen. so we decided to try it. we ordered one chicken tikka, lamm tikka, duck honey and few curries. After some 15mins we had the... More

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome, the food was superb and the attentive service level of the waiting staff was superfluous... Try and go on a Sunday evening when they have 2 for the price of 1 offers, seriously never witnessed this before in a restaurant! 2 meals - 1 chicken tikka masaledar, 1 Mix... More

"Masaledar" is highly recommended for anyone wishing to have "real" Indian food in Berlin. Despite its modest setting and location, the food is delightful in taste and appearance. Want to have Indian food in Berlin, this is the place to go.

The flavors of each dish were exceptional and were like a symphony in my mouth! I travel extensively (57 countries to date) and I can say this was the best meal I have had - ever. Three of us visited Masaledar on November 11, 2009. The restaurant was empty at the time, so we had our choice of tables. The... More

Staying in Schoneberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Schoneberg
In 1963, Schöneberg was the centre of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the centre of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
