With nice food and a lovely atmosphere, it's a shame our experience wasn't better. We were ignored for most of the evening having the ask for food and remind the waiters of our drinks several times, despite the couple beside us receiving extra attention on wine recommendations. I was disappointed as it received great reviews from Timeout.

Our second time at this place was "ok" we had Wiener Schnitzel. The Schnitzel is Boring and for 18€ def. not worth it. The staff is really attentive. The location is very cosy. All in all it's ok but we wouldn't come back for this kind of food cause there are much better options in this area.

We had an arrangement for two with a reserved table. Everything was great. Very helpful and friendly staff. Vine was very good. To the important part - the food: we had a Wiener Schnitzel. It was perfekt! I really suggest to go and give it a try. Outside of Vienna you don't find a better one. Go there! Give it... More

We stumbled upon this gem on a cold November night, and thought it was perfect! The atmosphere and the Weiner schnitzel were top notch!

18 EUR for a Schnitzel is steep by Berlin standards, but in this case well worth it. Staff was really friendly, eventhough we had no reservation we got a table within minutes (eventhough the place was more or less packed). Schnitzel was fantastic, proper veel instead of pork. Huge portion. Location is a bit off, but within walking distance from... More

away rom the regular touristic busy spots in this town, the Jolesch is a good place to intermingle with locals.... though the restaurant serves austrian food as well, so here you have a cross over of mid european dishes. all very fresh and nice, the salads are great. good wines and the service helped us to find the matching one,... Although I had no idea what the menus said, the waiter was very accommodating. The appetizers are good so far

The best wienerschnitzel ever at this quaint place with lots of personality. Bohemian area of Berlin to be discovered. Loved it!

We had a great night at Jolesch with fabulous twists on traditional food. Try the starter of mates salad which is a mouth poppingly delicious combination of black bread, apple and herring....divine. also the schnitzel was delicious and a huge portion but so will cooked. The waitress recommended a white wine which was delicious and very unusual. The staff were... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
