The food is acceptable, but awful unfriendly staff! Will never come back again. They don't care if you don't understand German. Really bad service. They didn't actually deserve tips! Definitely not worth a visit!

The food resembled Chinese food, with mostly stir-fried noodle dishes, as seen in some photos here. It wasn't bad but, it was disappointing and not what I associate as Vietnamese cuisine. These large plates of noodle or rice dishes seemed to be what most people were eating. The service was good. The Vietnamese coffee was delicious. Prices were good but,... More

Had dinner here. Had the hot and sour soup and it was very good. It will certainly clear out your sinuses. Also had the pork with onions, which came with rice. I was disappointed in this dish. So much onion and so little pork. For the price paid guess it was ok, but would not order it again.

We were going to a bar nearby so wanted to see what restaurants came up and this was near the top Berlin has LOADS of Vietnamese restaurants so I wasn't overly excited but thought I would give it a go You walk through a covered outdoor heating area which had many Vietnamese natives and so this got my hopes up... I could visit this place again in the future because they offer Vietnamese food in cheap prices and the service is also very good. Unpretentious atmosphere, big portions and average to good quality food.

We ordered fried pork dish. We have waited more than 30 mins then they brought different dish. I explained this isn't my order but they force me to eat. I didn't eat and return it. They said different name of the food and suddenly changed food name to what I ordered. They don't speak English at all. Really bad service... More

Sao Mai is one of the many small Vietnamese restaurants in Berlin. I go there for lunch on a Sunday. The waitress seems to speak neither German nor English and it is a hassle to get the order in. I get 4 Spring Rolls (€5), which are like classic nem, crunchy and filled with beef and vegetables. Quite tasty. I... More

The service was a bit slow but ok. You get big portions of food and it is ok but not more. But for the price you pay it is great.

Big portions and decent price but thats about it. Staff seemed uninterested. The food was average. Wasn't bad but far from good. The place looks run down and basically if it wasn't in that location it would've probably close years ago.

Staying in Schoneberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Schoneberg
In 1963, Schöneberg was the centre of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the centre of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
