great spot, lovely atmosphere we all thought it was a perfect environment and the food too. Its obviously popular with the local crowd and also relaxed. I can only echo the schnitzel comment from another, just like my mum made it with the potato salad. Maybe sounds odd but was awesome.

It's not often you get to eat in a butchers shop, converted fortunately, into a busy, buzzing eatery. The tiled walls hint at its former existence and the waiters discourse on the meat they serve tells you that you are in the hands of experts and enthusiasts. We ate Polish steak which was very good. Service was at just the... More

Unfortunately a bit like often in Mitte. As soon as you lift the bride's veil you feel a bit disappointed. The restaurant is nice and at our visit the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. But then the wine - which was basically great after cooling it down - was too warm at the beginning, the steaks great but cooked... More

Wanted somewhere stylish for lunch in our neighbourhood. Was recommended this. I had a delicious chicken schnitzel with cucumber and potato salad . A meatball dish looked very good too. Staff were welcoming. Cool decor ( an old 1920's butcher) . Go here for good straightforward german food in stylish surroundings.

The girl who wore horn-rims and who was serving in the bar took the order but the food was not served for 30 minutes. I asked the girl what happened to my food and she told me that my order was not delivered to the kitchen. I complained about it but she had the audacity to ask me whether to... More

Went on business - we are 8 for dinner. Selection is great for meat eaters (no fish and vegan choices). We all enjoyed our meat mean dishes from Schnitzel to Pork Chop to Filets - they all were tender and well prepared. The side dishes were delicious. The owner helped us with the wine selection and while very good I... More

Service is great and friendly. At first. Food comes in, presented nice and clean. Boring schnitzel, pork good (a bit undercooked) , I was unlucky of getting 6 padrons in a row fire spicy.. But the grilling was perfect. But don't question the food, then the guy snaps at you. Thank god for the "spanish?) waiter, amazing service and rescued... More

We had the burrata as a started followed by rump steak and the chicken. Whereas many restaurants have difficulty offering "succulent" chicken this was really nicely done, including crispy skin. The options for beer and wine were fitting and the service was excellent. Location-wise there are prettier views in the city but it's close to the underground station so easy... More

This place is all about meat. The interior is great. It's not the cheapest place for Berlin standards, and gets busy at weekends, so booking advisable. Having been here several times so far everything I've ordered has been great quality. Good wine selection too.

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
