I have been many times to this bar, cafe, and restaurant. A good term to describe it is the word "authentic". It is a real place, in several senses of the term. It has been a regional hangout for decades in this area, with little changes. It is a bar where intellectuals discuss, friends meet, loners have a downer before... More

Did not eat here - went for drinks after dinner. German colleague said it was a typical Berlin bar - nothing fancy, but reasonably priced drinks and local,non-tourist atmosphere. Cash only!

We went there for a beer and a quick dinner. When we asked for a table they gave us the standing places, since some tables were reserved, but all night long these tables were empty. Beer was good, but meal was average. Stuff was not so friendly, they hardly gave us a menu at all and we waited for a... More

My Wife and I used this bar on a couple occasions during a five day break in Berlin. It is certainly an interesting little bar with a mix of locals and tourists. The beer is outstanding. My only complaint is that on one occasion when leaving the female member of staff informed me that it was normal to tip in Berlin, silly me I... Such a cool atmosphere and chilled out setting but the service is only mediocre with the staff being super unfriendly and showing absolutely no interest - Such a shame for a place that could have such potential

Savignyplatz is a lively area of restaurants and bars. Zwiebelfisch has been around since 1969 and there were a few regulars there who have been coming to the bar since those days and still do most evenings. It was the local bar for the print union members at one point and for left wing intellectuals and the like. It still... More

First night in Berlin, great beer in a local bar I will be back for more very shortly. We were tempted to eat here but ventured to Dickie Wirtin.

Worth making the effort to find if you are in one of the hotels close to Savignyplatz. Very atmospheric bar that seems to be crowded from early evening. Good range of beers to choose from at reasonable prices. There is a slightly limited range of unpretentious meals that we found to be most enjoyable. The bar and staff were very... More

Stumbled upon this place just eating a drink. Ended up staying to eat and have a few more drinks. Reasonably priced, tasty dishes and lovely chilled out atmosphere. The service was lovely and friendly ( my German is pretty bad). The whole area around savignyplatz is gorgeous. If I'm lucky enough to come back to Berlin will certainly visit again

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
