We wanted to visit Dirke Wirtin because it was a proper old bar with good beer. It was not far from our hotel so we walked there mid afternoon and asked to reserve a table for that evening - but were told, quite brusquely, that it was fully booked. Undeterred (the choice of beers was fantastic!) we returned for lunch... More

Seeking out some traditional German cuisine isn't as easy as you think! And in a city as big as Berlin, with only three nights to enjoy, you really can't afford to get it wrong. We were delighted to follow the advice on TA and found this amazing pub/restaurant away from the main drag, but only 5 mins walk from the... More

We called to book a table for lunch and they stated it was fine to come in without booking - 3 adults and 2 children. Arrived, we were ushered to the back of a busy restaurant, there were a few spare tables, we chose one that would best accommodate 2 prams (we had to bring the prams with us as... More

One of the best places we've visited in Berlin. Great country music preforming live by couple of cool singers. Good food and drinks, tasty deserts. We highly recommend this place

Found this place by doing a Trip Advisor, near me now and we were looking for somewhere traditionally German. Walking in, this place fitted the bill and the warm Christmassy feel helped it all along. We found some where to sit in the bar area but got moved as we had taken the smokers spot. We asked a waitress for... More

The food here is plentiful with some good choices. It's quite crowded so not great for a romantic meal. Good beer and a nice Christmas menu. The staff are helpful in suggesting different meals. Like some of its other reviews suggest, it's a nice place, nothing spectacular. I suggest arriving very hungry as the portion sizes are impressive.

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
