Lovely curry house, friendly staff and good food. Had a vegetarian dish which wasn't on the menu, no problems to make it and it was excellent. Lovely crispy naan breads too. Really good value for the food and drinks.

I think we we have eaten our way through the entire Calcutta menu. We started eating here in 2006 or 2007, when we were living in the neighbourhood and Calcutta was our local Indian. We were quickly hooked on the consistently excellent food and the warm welcome we received from the owner. Over the years, we developed a relationship and... More

Warm atmosphere, kind personnel, excellent food, nicely priced. Beware : quantities are not enormous, but quite generous. We had a starter before our vindaloo, had too much but couldn't let enything be taken back to the kitchen. Hade to take a walk fot digestion, which was nice after all.

What great place. This is a great place to get a curry if you are English. They do a version of Anglo Indian cuisine with authentic Kashmir dishes mixed in for good measure. The owner is brilliant and very funny and will make the dish to suit the Birmingham pallet. I had a prawn balti which was amazingly tasty. All... More

Great tasting food. They can make it very authentic. Had roti subji dal rice. The aloo gobi was very good. The garlic nan was made exceedingly well. A little expensive but worth the money Service was prompt and friendly

I can only say that it was just acceptable. The dishes were average, the service slow and careless, and the beer was warm (no matter which one I tried).... sorry, but I can't say anything much better.... I think 3 stars is generous, but 2 would be unfair.... something like 2.5

We ate for two a "Calcutta Platte" with mango-lassi and coriander "Nan". It was so good and enough. Additonal we got a mint-coriander-chili sauce, which was delicious.

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
