The genuine East Berlin ambience manifests itself not only in the subdued lighting, the 70's music (I 'm sure Abba were singing "I believe in Engels",and the retro artifacts, but also in the wholesome Ossie fare.Try the Bratwuerste or Jaegerschnitzel and you would imagine having a Honecker era slap up meal!

Really interesting restaurant. We were taken there by relatives who live locally and treated to a meal. simple good old fashioned german food and beer. In a couple of rooms simply covered in old DDR ephemera, from radios, TVs, Album covers, kitchen utensils, magazines, photographs etc. The place was a mini museum. very nostalgic I imagine for the locals many... Was in the area and came across the Osseria, I had heard a lot about it and the idea of the place was good, Wanted to have dinner there, but decided to have lunch first, I ordered the spareribs and have never tasted anything so bad in my life. The portion was fine for a lunch special 2 small racks... More

The food is very good and covers a great range. Big portions. Inside it looks a bit like a museum with artefacts from a small but friendly German state that existed decades ago (however that makes the restaurant a little bit "overloaded").

One of my favourite places where to bring friends on holiday in Berlin. A typical Berlin menu with a lot of options, declined in a former DDR way. If you are vegetarian you can try the Bauernfrühstück, the very nice Auflauf (now Kartoffelgratin), all the side dishes and also some soups. If you eat meat you have access to a... More

A little off the beaten path, this place has really interesting insight into life in Berlin as a divided city. Loaded with DDR memorabilia. Forget the DDR museum, just visit this restaurant and have a nice meal. Dinner is home style cooking, good portions. Some of the food was probably canned or frozen, probably very authentic. The tomato salad was... More

This is fun to do. I'ts a journey to get here but it's realy worth it. Also the trip, there is still a lot of old DDR houses to see. The restaurant is basic qua intrieur but realy good kitchen an for a good price. The restaurant is a litle museum.

It was my second time in Osseria (first time in May 2011) in September 2012 and again nothing to complain! It's not fine dine - it's home cooking DDR style! The interior of this restaurant is all ostalgia with posters of Trabants, communist badges etc and it is fun to walk around the restaurant while waiting for your meal. It's... More
