We ended a day of touring Regensburg here. A great choice, at the recommendation of our tour guide. Good beer and wine, and good local foods. The location allowed a relaxed atmosphere and fun conversation in a very comfortable and scenic setting. Wr recommend this venue to all American visitors who want a local flavor to end their tour of... More

The location along the Danube (Donau in German) is marvelous; however, in the afternoon there is little shade to be found. So be sure to apply sunscreen as service and conversation are leisurely. There are several locally made beers that folks enjoy. Need a non-alcoholic suggestion ask for the orange lemon drink (better tasting version of a Fanta).

Dear Jenny H, Thank you for your review, concerning the missing shade you can be sure we are encouraging the old chestnut and limetrees to grow their leaves as fast as possible, at least until pentecost. We would really appreciate you visiting us again later this year, surely you wouldn't be disappointed. With best regards, G.R., head waiter More

I was here many times in summer just for beer and snacks and in this winter for dinner. The service was quick and prompt although there was just a waitress at the time, the food was fresh and very tasty. It was a great and nice surprise, because in the restaurant next to it (alte Linde) whre usually all the... More

The Advent Christmas market in December at Spitalgarten is in Stadtamhof, a suburban area of Regensburg away from the main center town market on Neupfarrplatz. Spitalgarten, beside the brewery, is small and cramped with a gravel pathway among the food (lamb, chocolate), drink and craft huts. It is more a neighborhood meeting place than a touristy Christmas market. At the... More

Walking around and saw this place and decided to pop in and get a bite to eat. Place was crowded so we thought great choice. The beer was good but services was horrible. Felt like we were being ignored due to being Americans. After 30 minutes of being ignored decided not to eat and went back to the Christmas Markets... More

Meal and service were both good despite a relatively full crowd the evening we walked over the bridge for dinner. We have eaten a meal during prior visits to Regensburg and have always been satisfied customers. The biergarten is relaxing with the Danube rolling by -- easy to lose yourself with a good beer in hand. Decent Bavarian food, and... More

The setting of this lovely beer garden, overlooking the River Danube, could not be better, and both the food and the beer are also highly recommended. The latter is brewed next to the beer garden, in what is Regensburg's oldest brewery. Come here, either at lunchtime, or early evening, for views back across the Danube of the old city, and... More

I love the beers here, and outdoor seating on the Danube. All of the beers we tried were excellent - Helles, Dunkel, and even a nice, balanced IPA that wasn't too hop forward.

Nice beer. Historical location by the Danube 'unter den Linden'. Busy vibe at lunchtime. Friendly staff and good German food. What's not to like?
