Yesterday we had lunch in the great hall before attending the Starkbierfest in the underground cellar rooms. The Schmankerlplatte which had duck, pork knuckle, pork loin, bratwurst, and breadball was quite tasty and reasonably priced. The platter was more than enough for 2 people, which we shared. For dessert we had the lightest, most flakey Apfelstrudel, that we have ever had. It also had tasty ice cream and a pudding like sauce that were both good. The Maximator strong bier that is only available during Lent was also quite tasty, but as other people have said, it can sneak up on you quite quickly. After 2 Maß (liters), I was "feeling no pain" and ended up feeling quite full. Even though the alcohol content is around 7.8%, the contents (Stammwurze) are rather filling. I normally only drink dark beer, so I am used to it. Later in the evening we attended Starkbierfest in the basement several floors underground. There is a full menu down there as well as the full selection of bier that is available upstairs. The live band was good and played loudly many currently popular songs. The general crowd is young, many 20-40 year olds who all seemed to have a good time. The bathrooms are next to the kitchen that is in the basement and are surprisingly large and accommodate many people at the same time. They were very clean. The Maximator bier was also very good, but I learned that a total of 3 Maß over 5-6 hours is my maximum. I drank 6 Maß at Oktoberfest of the Märzen and the effect was much less at that time. I made reservations for Starkbierfest a couple of months beforehand online for 13.50 Euro per ticket, but it was well worth it as it was sold out online for this Saturday visit more than a month before this date. Finally, although the main way down is through several flights of fairly narrow stairs, there. is also a modern lift/elevator that can be used. Enjoy yourself at Augustiner Keller on Arnulf street. It is aslo a fairly easy walk from the Hackerbrücke S-bahn station, the opposite bridge direction from the Oktoberfest grounds.

What to do on a Sunday afternoon when arriving in Munich? A friend recommended Augustiner-Keller which was a ten minute walk from the train station or 20 from the center of Munich. Upon arriving something is definitely different, it’s like a small park in the city. Inside there are several rooms which is typical of a German beer hall. Upon finding a spot ordered a beer and reviewed the menu before deciding on the goulash soup and a pretzel.
The beer was probably the best I had on my stay, the soup was great and there is nothing like a good Bavarian pretzel. Walking outside you can join in curling as the kids play on a playground or just sit at any of the outside tables and enjoy time with friends over a beer.
Great fun!

We were recommended this place from a friend who grew up here. Our hotel was right down the street so we went twice. The food was good and the service was fine, however we noticed one major health violation on our second night there...MICE EVERYWHERE. We tried to ignore it and finish our meal, but we kept our feet moving to keep the mice away from under our table it was that infested. We went outside to the beer garden to play their outdoor game and noticed very large rats running around the outside of the building as well. Food was ok and the game was fun, but we will not be back. We also weren’t told the game would be 30 euros for 30 minutes, which is way too expensive.

When you visit Munich, you have to experience a biergarden. This one is excellent. You can sit in the restaurant section or in the big hall We did make reservations ahead of which saved us waiting in line. Note: reservations are for the restaurant section only.
We were seated promptly. Service was great for this busy place. Pretzels are served immediately. I had the Wiener schnitzel and it was great! The traditional Apple strudel was desert. Yummy! We visited several biergardens while visiting Munich and this was our favorite. Oops almost forgot the best part- the beer! It was a winner.

This traditional beer garden has been here since the time of Napoleon. Large, spacious and family friendly with a children's play area. 2 seating areas, small tables and chairs indicate it is waiter service only, longer tables and benches are for self service. Delicious food from cold snacks to hot meals

I was sitting at the room with the bar (they have several rooms). I ordered tafelspitz (boiled meat) with veggies and roast potatoes. Plus a bretzel. I got tafelspitz and veggies. The waiter was quite annoyed when I asked to also get the roast potatoes. He was also very unfriendly when I reminded him that I had ordered a bretzel, and not the slice of bread he brought instead. Needless to say that he didn’t ask if I enjoyed the food ...

It rarely snows in Munich, but when it does, it's so beautiful. And we chose the restaurant just right - on our own small territory with a garden, a detached two-story building with a restaurant, a banquet hall and a beer cellar, reminiscent of Czech beer cellars, as well as detached huts right in the garden, inside exactly conveying the atmosphere of the Bavarian hinterland . Everything reminded me of a fairy tale. There was even a Christmas tree with lights.
For the first time we chose the restaurant itself. It should be noted that the menus are slightly different, depending on the location. Photos of the restaurant on the site do not reflect anything. Having stood in a short queue under gently swirling snowflakes, we finally went inside and were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. We sat at the high table, it was classy. The prosecco tasted good, the duck was of good quality, I even liked the potato knodel, although I don’t really like them, the white sausages were brought in a just saucepan, it's was a little funny, but fresh and hot. In general, everything is super, with pleasure we will come again.

We found the facility itself to be the star of our visit. Truly worth seeing and having a meal. If you are unsure of the atmosphere with tourists, come early. Eating either outside or in the basements is memorable. If I lived in Munich, this could be on the rotation!
The beer is excellent and the pretzels are Munich Pretzels (my favorite). We enjoyed the food and although the initial seating was awkward and not "english" friendly, our waiter was (learned he was Croatian). He really made the evening and helped navigate German wines and the menu.
Would definitely go back, but I will be less concerned about not speaking German or the "not tourist friendly" you will hear. Like everything else in Germany, they are like that until they choose not to be like that depends on what suits them! So, you should too. Enjoy. Overall, on my list to return and worth a try.

Parents looking for a place to sit back and enjoy good beers and tasty food while your kids play…. THIS IS THE PLACE! This beer garden is nestled in the middle of the city, but feels like you’re in the forest. The place is enormous. There is literally a large section with a great playground surrounded by picnic tables and tall trees. Most of the tables in the restaurant are serviced by a wait staff, but if you sit on the picnic tables you have to go to the designated self-serve area to get your food and drinks… it took us a while to figure this out. Good food, good beers, and good play structures… what more could you ask for?!? I wish we had something like this in Southern California!!!

I visited AK twice in March 2022….it is probably my favorite Biergarten in Munich…outdoors, it can seat thousands in a beautiful tree filled setting. The first time I came, we used the self service area….I had the pork roast with potato knoodle…it was fantastic!!! The best gravy I have ever had in my entire life….ever, anywhere….I wish I had a mug of the gravy right now – I would just drink it like coffee. The pork was fantastic and the knoodle…that springy, gelatinous, freak of a potato ball…so good…I wanted to pick it up and eat it like an apple!!!
The second time I visited, we sat outdoors in the serviced area. The initial waiter took our order and we waited 30 minutes (for a beer)….then another waiter showed up and wanted to take our order again…clearly, the first waiter had gotten off work or something. The second waiter was fine though. I had the schnitzel and it was very good.
The setting is perfect, the food is amazing, the beer is good, the service is ok…sort of…
Would highly recommend and only a two stop tram ride from Hauptbahnhoff…

We had dinner here after our tour upon the suggestion of our tour guide and it didn’t disappoint.
It was not too crowded so we were seated right away.my husband ordered fish and their beer which he enjoyed. I ordered their special pork and duck and it was delicious. Especially the crispy skin of the duck.
The interiors was lovely. Like your typical German pub house. I notice local families having their dinner there.
Service was very efficient. Would recommend this to friends.

We had a group of about 60 with advanced reservations and a set menu. Everything went well and the service was excellent. We only took up a fraction of the seating as the place is huge. The beer was outstanding! Our main course - pork medallions with sauce - tasted really good. We later went outside and watched others playing ice bocce ball(?). It was a great night.

The beer and food were as you would expect - tasty, good quality German fare, served quickly and at the perfect temperature. The service though exceeded expectations. The whole family loved Benny, our new Kosovan waiter friend. He could not have been more delightful and made the experience truly memorable. Thanks for a great night!

If you are visiting Munich and staying in a hotel in Arnulfpark/Arnulfpark area, then you need to go to the Augustiner Keller. Go here on a nice summer night and enjoy the shaded Biergarten and listen to the traditional German Oompah band. Order a Hefe-Weizen bier and Schweinhax or a Spanferkel. You won't be sorry. If you want a traditional Bavarian experience and food, then go to Augustiner Keller. I have recommended this place to family and friends that have traveled to Munich and they all agree this is a great place for local Bavarian eats.
