We had a really excellent meal at Cafe Comptoir Abel, we may have liked it better than Cafe Federations.

A cold windy day and a lot of walking with my 85 year old mother. Found this nearby on Trip Advisor and they took us in for lunch without a reservation--but making a reservation would be a wise idea. This is a very popular spot,...More

Recommended to us by the owner of the apartment we stayed at, this was a great little place to eat. Service was friendly and relaxed. We all ate the three course lunch menu. Lyonnaise salad and the girls ate the sausage and lentil, both were...More

The chicken in morelle sauce and vegetables was a wonderful dish. The traditional warm, cosy setting was great. However the gateau was in fact a tart and not that pleasant. The wine was appalling Setting and main course mean I would return and make different...More

Very good meal, heavy lyonnais classics so rich and filling, no foraging or edible flowers here! Cosy and would be especially good on a cold, wintry day. Comptoir Abel has a long history so really good to try it.

Excellent restaurant, from nice location to good service to excellent food. The foie gras and the beef with mushrooms in sauce were both excellent. When in Lyon next time I would not hesitate to go back.

Comptoir Abel is one of the most genuine 'bouchons' of Lyon, and it is almost always packed. It serves traditional Lyon cuisine, such as quenelles de brochet. My starter of warm sausage with lentils was very good but (almost too) filling, and the gratin d'écrevisses...More

Felt like the perfect Bouchon experience. Very French, very old, very yummy. Service was wonderful. Food and wine were terrific. Lots of locals. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. We will visit again if were are ever so lucky as to be in Lyon.
