Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I went tonight and it was miserable. It's completely non-traditional so you order something and expect to get what you ordered but you get something completely different... and it doesn't taste good. I also found a hair in one of my courses. I ate one...bite out of a desert and they still charged me for it but at that point I didn't want to argue and wanted to get out of there already. Just miserable. The staff was nice enough but given the quality of the food, how does this restaurant even exist?More

This was our best gastronomic experience in Lyon. Everything was impeccable and with the quality and technique of haute cuisine at bistro prices. From the starters to the accompanying wine, to the main course, to the gateaux, this is a bouchon that takes really seriously...the tradition of Lyon as the gastronomic capital of France. Don't miss it!More

Having seen this restaurant being promoted on Norwegian television as a special restaurant our expectations as a family were probably too high. The staff of the restaurant were friendly and nice, but we were not impressed by the food. The mushroom starter was delicious, but...we were not too enthusiastic about the gravlax. For the main course the beef chuck in red wine sauce was tender and OK, and the beef in pepper sauce was nicely cooked but a bit tasteless. The fish dish was something new to us as we had never tried pike “quenelle” before; we prefer more natural looking and tasting fish and will not order this dish again. The biggest disappointments were the desserts; the tarte tatin looks a bit sloppy but tastes ok, and the Floating Island barely looks like something that is edible (we left most of it behind)More

Reseaonable champagne by the glass but excellent beer (Confluence Blonde) Salmon entree was brilliant and the beef and the chicken we excellent. Greta desserts. €150 for two was steep but it was an experience.

Excellent restaurant with a truly authentic vibe. Bustling atmosphere, great for and drink, service good. Clearly very popular so booking in advance strongly recommended. Would definitely return.

We had our dinner in mid-August, during the days of the canicule; we were offered a table on the dehors, and was a great choice because of the light wind, that was better than airco. The dishes; I started with their signature plate, the paté...en croute, quite good to start on a summer night, but the real outstanding dish was the rib de boeuf confit, cooked to perfection and with a perfect sauce, probably the best I have ever had in my life. Then ended with a very good tarte tatin. Also the bread they offered was very good. The young maitre, very competent in recommending a suitable pairing wine, pace of serving was what you expected at a relaxing dinner (we drove some like 650 km that day!), price consistent to the quality of food. Definitely recommended!More

Excited to eat here but let down by snappy, indifferent, unhappy staff. Food good. Would not return. Disappointed as was our last night in Lyon. Very much a tourist chain.

We really enjoyed Daniel & Denise. A lovely traditional ambience, friendly yet professional service and, most importantly, delicious bouchon food.

I had Dorada fillet for 24 euros - the fish was very good, but it's not a big size. however, the waiter dismissed my request to not use sauce on salad (I asked to not use vinegar but he served it with it). He did...pass my request to omit garlic. The food is good, and service was friendly overall but more attention is needed by the waiter. When I asked about ingredients and how meat and fish is cooked, the serving person had to go back to ask a cook each detail because they did not know. I have some dietary restrictions, this made me feel uncomfortable that he could not answer what ingredients are used, and the waiter showed his displeasure on his face that I was too much trouble.More

We expected a much higher quality of food. We had 5 different entrees, but the roast was the only one that was considered "good". The steak was literally raw, even though it was ordered medium and the sauce on one of the dishes was so...salty it was inedible. The single impressive dish was a starter. The bone marrow with escargot. The side dishes, mac-&-cheese and potatoes, were decent. Otherwise, the food isn't worth seeking out and we wouldn't do so if ever in Lyon again.More

This bouchon serves lyonnais classics such as pâté en croûte (terrine wrapped in pastry crust), quenelles de brochet (pike dumplings in creamy crayfish sauce), andouillete (sausage made from pork intestines), foie de veau (calf's liver), etc. All of them were excellent, and so were the...desserts such as île flottant, baba au rhum and tarte tatin. Service was good and staff were friendly.More

Nice but, maybe not what we expected. Having the Michelin mark on the outside of the restaurant made us think it would be 5 star rating but we just can't do it. Another place fairly close had better food.

Went to the Daniel & Denise at Saint Jean. The foie gras as a starter was good. Dessert was good too. Ordered the veal with carrot muslin. One taste I can taste cumin inside and I have an allergy to it. Talked to the first...waitress she said yes there. The manager came back saying no is just curry powder and refused to do anything about it. He wanted to charge me if I need him to change it. So he rather I develop an allergy and end up in hospital. By the way, many curry relies on cumin as a main spice too. How much does it cost just to change the carrot Muslin? Also the veal has a terrible strong taste that is not very nice. For a Michelin restaurant did not expect them to behave in this way. I did not eat half of the veal or touch the muslin. What a horrible experience considering.More
